There is a cast iron weight underneath the lamp. 10 foot cord with a switch near the base. Handmade with care and perfection, using UL parts. 40 watt maximum bulb, or higher equivalent if using a cool burning LED bulb. Nice as a reading lamp or an accent lamp. Made by us in our
