Bright crimson with lifted aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle rose petal. The palate is silky and layered, showing ripe raspberry and gentle spice, framed by fine tannins and a long, elegant finish.

After 30 years in the wine trade in the North Island, Peter Parish returned to North Canterbury, the region of his childhood home in 1995. With sheer determination and hard graft, he planted his first vineyard and launched Dunnolly Estate Wines, named after the family villa, Dunnolly. Today, daughter Nicky is the hands-on winemaker and her brother Matt, now an overseas winemaker, supports as an advisor and consultant.

Located on the East of New Zealand’s South Island, North Canterbury wines are renowned for their concentration and expressive qualities. The region’s combination of clay soils and diurnal temperature range brings purity to the fruit, producing wines which retain natural vibrancy and complexity.

2024 was another memorable vintage in North Canterbury. The combination of naturally low crops and a seemingly endless autumn produced pristine fruit that was perfectly ripened. Pinot Noir was harvested on the 2 of April 2024.

Having beautiful fruit meant I could let the fruit shine, keeping my intervention minimal. The fruit was soaked on its skins, before fermentation, then allowed to macerate, spending a total of 7 days on skins. The wine was aged in 100% French barriques, 20% new for 10 months before being bottled in March 2024.

Food Pairing: Delicious alongside lamb, slow cooked with tomato and rosemary, or for something lighter try spring vegetables, mint and feta.
