Bright coloured batiks are mainly from the coastal cities of Java and are called batik Pesisir. They are characterised by the pretty pastel colours heavily influenced by the Chinese immigrants who settled mainly in northern coastal cities such as Pekalongan and Cirebon.

Caplis batik is made with a mixture of batik tjap and tulis. The main patterns are being stamped while the colours are being coloured in by brush.
