AWOLNATION's music has been described as alternative rock, electropop, synth-pop, indie rock, indie pop, industrial rock electronic rock, dance-pop and dance-rock. They released their first studio album, Megalithic Symphony, on March 15, 2011. The band's second studio album, Run, was released on March 17, 2015. Of this third album, Bruno told Billboard, "This record I really wanted to make a rock n' roll/pop album. And I say pop how we grew up listening to that in the sense of Dire Straits or Born In The U.S.A. or the Cars or Tom Petty or something like that. I felt like this was my opportunity do something like that because I haven't heard something quite like that in a long time. So I said, 'I'm gonna make Born In The U.S.A., AWOLNATION style.'"
