This is a No. 7 Chinese Cleaver from Mizuno Tanrenjo's "Akitada Hontanren" range. Hand-forged by 5th generation Mizuno master blacksmith Jun Mizuno, and sharpened by extremely experienced sharpener Tsutomu Minamiura, this cleaver has superb grinds that are exceedingly smooth, with kasumi finishes and excellent polish. The fit and finish are fair, with some slight roughnesses around the choil. The Aogami blade benefits from Mizuno's outstanding heat treatment skills, ensuring superior edge retention. With the hardness of the steel, the sharpener was able to create an exceedingly thin edge, ensuring outstanding cutting performance.

About Mizuno Tanrenjo 水野鍛錬所 / Minamoto Akitada 源昭忠

Established in 1872, the Mizuno Tanrenjo workshop is one of the most prestigious blacksmith workshops in Japan. Five generations of Mizuno blacksmiths have worked on projects of cultural significance and won accolades for their craftsmanship. The works of 2nd generation blacksmith Masanori Mizuno still hangs on top of the pagoda at Japan's first UNESCO site, and the 3rd generation Akiharu Mizuno - a portage of Japan's national treasure blacksmith Teiichi Tsukiyama - has won a prestigious award for his honyaki yanagiba. The Mizuno family workshop has received two royal visits by Prince Mikasa of Japan, who is personally a fan of their craftsmanship. Today Mizuno Tanrenjo is led by 5th generation master blacksmith - Jun Mizuno (a.k.a. Noritada Mizuno) whose superior craftsmanship and extraordinary honyaki works have been recognized by two of Japan’s top Ichinomiyas (shrines) which have commissioned his katanas to become the shrines’ permanent collections.

Care:

Aogami #2 (Blue #2) steel is a premium Japanese high carbon steel for knife making. Despite some corrosion resistant quality (for a carbon steel), it is not stainless, therefore you should wipe your knife dry after each use. Patina will develop over time. Rust may develop if left in prolonged contact with water or acidic food. Use a rust eraser to clean if rusts develop. Avoid cutting into bones, frozen foods, hard fruit pits.

Cutting Surface:

Recommended cutting surface: wood, rubberized boards and high-end composites, and quality plastics such as polyethene make acceptable cutting surfaces, and will help protect and prolong knife’s edge. AVOID glass, metal, countertops, and other rigid, non-forgiving surfaces.

Sharpening:

We recommend sharpening all quality Japanese knives on whetstones, as we believe they yield the best results for your knives.

Good quality
Color: Black
Have used the frother 5 days in a row. It comes already charged. Fingers crossed no issues when I eventually have to charge it. I love everything about it. It’s worth a little bit of extra money as you can control the blending power from slow to fast. Easily held with both hands to coordinate. Today for a change I elected to just add a touch of bourbon caramel syrup to my oat milk -an excellent choice! They give you two attachments which is helpful. I’m not hard on my kitchen appliances but it’s good to know I have an immediate back up if needed. I rinse frother attachment out immediately in a cup of warm water and air dry on a towel. At this point, I highly recommend. My next adventure in the kitchen will be Matcha tea. I will use the bamboo whisk for the actual tea. If I decide to add oat milk to the top,(such as for a cold latte) I will use this frother.

Higher quality then I expect, very satisfied
Color: Gray
High quality overall, very high powered. It looks really fancy and elegant. The adjustable speed knob on the top is really great. The stand looks really nice but isn't the best design because it is easy to knock over when you take it out, that's my only issue with it.

Typhur Sync Gold Wireless Meat Thermometer
Color: Black
I’ve been extremely impressed with the Typhur Sync Gold Wireless Meat Thermometer. From the first use, it’s clear this is a premium product designed with both convenience and accuracy in mind. The wireless setup makes cooking so much easier—no more dealing with tangled cords or constantly opening the oven or grill to check temperatures. The app is intuitive and provides real-time updates, which gives me total confidence that my food is cooking exactly the way I want it. What really sets this product apart, though, is not just the performance—it’s the exceptional customer service. I ran into an issue with one of the probes, and I have to say their support team was outstanding. They responded quickly, were easy to work with, and resolved the problem without any hassle. They sent me a replacement probe at no cost, which really shows they stand behind their product and care about their customers. Overall, the Typhur Sync Gold delivers on all fronts: accuracy, ease of use, and reliability. Add in their top-notch customer support, and it’s an easy recommendation for anyone serious about cooking or grilling.

Best wireless thermometer (and we've had a bunch)
Color: Black, Color: Black
It's dead accurate and simple to use. Meat temp and grill/oven temp in one probe isn't new but it works perfectly on the Typhur. Temps show immediately when the probe is removed and we haven't had any connection issues. Wifi and the 10x sub-1g is so much better than bluetooth. We can have the grill outside the walkout patio and the base unit connects everywhere in our house. The Typhur app is full featured, polished and easy to use. One app works with their oven, air fryers and sous vide machine. The price is too low to believe. We bought two of these and will be throwing our other wireless unit away. Hoping to try other Typhur products in the future.

A Game-Changer for Precision Cooking
Color: Black
We’ve had the Typhur Sync Smart Meat Thermometer for a few months now, and it’s been nothing short of amazing. The wireless probe is a total game-changer, it frees you up from cords and gives you the flexibility to monitor your cook remotely. It charges via USB-C, which is super convenient. I can use the same charger that powers my smartphone to charge a meat thermometer, imagine saying that sentence 20 years ago. The companion app is one of the highlights. It displays incredibly useful temperature data, including readings from multiple points within the probe to show the gradient of heat inside the meat. You even get a real-time graph tracking the temperature over time, which is especially helpful for monitoring the entire cooking process. And best of all: the app is currently free with no subscription required (fingers crossed it stays that way). The thermometer seems to be very accurate. While I haven’t tested it against lab equipment, the NIST certification and consistently reliable results give me confidence. I’ve made sure the temps fall within my personal margin of error—and so far, so good. I can’t speak for others who may have had issues with the probe, but from what I’ve seen, Typhur’s customer service has a solid reputation. I appreciate that they seem to genuinely stand behind their products. While I primarily use the thermometer for reverse searing steaks, it’s versatile enough for anything from steak to turkey, chicken, or pork loin. If you’re serious about cooking and want precision without hassle, this is a fantastic investment. Highly recommended.
