SENSORY-FIRST

We have a long history of working on sensory vessels, from carafes, to cups, to glasses. With this design, we wanted to improve on some downfalls of our popular old Sense Carafe based on years of feedback from customers and our own evolving product line. 

We maintain a sensory shape, with a wine-glass bottom (in fact, the curves are very consistent with our matching Sensory Wine Glass) to give plenty of space to swirl and for aroma to collect into a more central point. This shape also helps increase capacity (to 450ml) while keeping the size quite small. 

ULTRA COMPATIBLE

This Sensory Carafe works with all of our brewers (O1, Z1, V4, V3, Big Boy) and probably the majority of other brewers on the market. With a generous mouth opening of just over 7cm, it is going to fit most brewers very comfortably. The shape has been simplified from our old designs to be more consistent through the neck, to avoid compatibility issues with different types of devices (with wide bases or devices that nest inside of servers).

DRIBBLE-FREE 

Our designs normally focused on the quality of the pour - but many customers had requested that we pay particular attention to dribbling after pouring. We took this to heart and travelled to our manufacturing partner in China to work for a day with their master glass blower to find the right shape and right compromise in the spout. We went through over 40 iterations together to land on the current design. 

What most people don't know is that all of the spouts (on any server) are made by hand, using simple tools like knives. The way the material reacts to pressure or material thickness is quite organic and therefore it is sometimes difficult for glass blowers to replicate spout designs made by designers in CAD. For this reason, we wanted to go there and just hand-design something that works better through trial-and-error using the real techniques. Given that they are made by hand, you can expect small variations unit to unit too, but the general functionality should not change. 

Our result was something we were happy with - no dribbling, with nice pouring, within a sensory shape. 

POURING BLISS

Sensory-first carafes usually pour terribly. Yes, this even includes our old Sense Carafe. It's a combination of shape and the nature of how spouts are made. All sensory carafes on the market pour very badly as a result. We wanted to change that. 

The result is a spout that can pour nicely at slow speeds or fast speeds. You also have great control with the handle, which many customers wanted us to add to our old sensory carafes.

We have travelled there to work side by side and make sure their approach and conditions are up to our standard.
