His watercolors and tempera paintings capture the essence of the two regions, while conveying a sense of loneliness and nostalgia. "I can do an awful lot of thinking and dreaming about the past and future—the timelessness of these rocks and hills—about all the people who have existed here." After the prints were completed and approved by Wyeth for this volume, the original plates were destroyed. Also issued in a signed limited edition of 300 copies.
