But that's only part of the story. Over the 30+ years these latches have been in service, the internal mechanisms can often start to wear down, worsening the situation further. If the locking catches on your sliding door latch are worn and the teeth no longer engage it's time for a full latch rebuild and replacement of those internal parts!
Features: This bundle combines our Sliding Door Latch Spring Replacement Kit, with new GoWesty-designed locking catches and mounting posts. Together these parts deliver everything you need to completely overhaul your sliding door latch. When designing this comprehensive product, we took the time to address key failure points in the original design, and improve overall reliability. We've also included two brand new stainless steel springs and allen-head bolts, which are way easier to install/uninstall than the original prone-to-stripping Phillips head bolts.
Fits: Some 1985*, and all 1986-91 Vanagon. This product is intended for use on left-hand drive (LHD) Vanagon. For right-hand drive (RHD) application, your existing springs must be re-used. If your springs are still intact, this kit will work for you!
*If your outside door handle measures 5.75" from the middle of the key hole to end this will fit your van.
We highly recommend purchasing a can of HHS-PLUS Spray Grease for the installation.
