Frequently Asked Questions

  • How do I know which products are right for me?
Here is our Product Comparison Chart. We all have unique body chemistries and sometimes a little trial and error is necessary to find the right lactation product for your body’s needs. We often suggest a bestseller bundle to start, so that you can test out 3 popular products at a reduced price.
  • What's the difference between Cash Cow and Milkapalooza?
Cash Cow contains goat's rue and alfalfa as the main heavy-hitting ingredients while Milkapalooza contains moringa and nettle. Cash Cow can also be used in late term pregnancy. We all react differently to herbs and what works wonders for one individual may not have the same effect on another, so we have different formulas to help you find the right fit. You can read about our ingredients and their benefits here.
  • Why is this product not Gluten Free?
Goat's rue is not gluten-free. In order to get a product certified gluten-free, it has to test out at 10ppm (parts per million) or less. Our Cash Cow has never tested below that, and we have narrowed it down to the goat's rue that makes it miss the mark. We have tried many sources of goat's rue and none of them are gluten-free which is interesting because a lot of companies are advertising their goat's rue as gluten-free. We don't believe the gluten content is high, but it still doesn't meet our strict testing standards.
  • What are the benefits of this product?
The herbs in Cash Cow have been shown to assist with milk production, milk enrichment and nutrition, mammary gland stimulation, prolactin release, milk flow and let-downs, and can help improve insulin signaling in the body.
  • Does this product increase fat content in milk?
Although a mother's diet doesn't affect the total amount of fat in breastmilk, it can influence the fatty acid composition. A diet rich in DHA and other polyunsaturated fatty acids will lead to an increased amount in breastmilk. Alfalfa is a good source of PUFA and particularly Omega-3 fatty acids like alpha-linolenic acid.
  • Can I combine supplements?
We suggest trying one product at a time for at least 7-10 days to see which one works best for you.. We all have very unique body chemistries so trying them individually can help determine what works best for you. Some parents prefer to take a combination of products and that's perfectly fine, but it does make it more difficult to determine which product is impacting your milk production the most. If you find that more than one product works well for you after testing them you can certainly combine them at that time! Some parents alternate between products throughout the day, alternate days, or combine the dosage of each daily. It may require a few tries to find the perfect combination for your body.
  • How long does it take to start working?
Some parents notice a change within a few days, but we recommend taking each product for at least 7-10 days.
  • How soon after birth should I start taking the product?
For parents with a history of low milk supply in a previous breastfeeding journey, beginning the supplements immediately postpartum may be appropriate. For first-time parents however, we usually suggest playing it by ear and reaching out to us if milk supply concerns develop.
  • Are these safe to take while pregnant?
Out of an abundance of caution, we don't recommend taking any supplements while pregnant with ingredients that haven't been part of clinical studies. For example, some of the ingredients in Cash Cow like alfalfa can be taken earlier on in pregnancy. However, moringa has only been researched for its use with late-term mothers. Moringa is considered part of the cuisine in some Asian countries so it's a really well-tolerated lactogenic plant but out of an abundance of caution, we typically defer to the study that was done around 36 weeks of pregnancy when making recommendations for starting Cash Cow which can be taken after 36 weeks of pregnancy.
  • What dosage should I take?
Per the supplement facts, we recommend 2 pills, 3 times a day.
  • What time of day should I take the products?
3 times a day with a meal or a high-protein/healthy-fat snack. Many parents take them with breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
  • When does the product expire?
Cash Cow has a 3 year expiration date from manufacturing. Please refer to the bottom of your bottle for specific expiration date.
  • I can't swallow capsules, how can I take these?
Some individuals who are not able to swallow capsules will open them and sprinkle the contents in a spoonful of applesauce or yogurt. It's best to not dilute them too much.
  • How long should I take the product?
It varies! Some parents use our products for a short time to jump-start their supply and some parents take them for the duration of their breastfeeding journey.
  • Can I take this along with Sunflower Lecithin?
    Absolutely and many parents do!
  • Do your products contain fillers?
Never. Our products are free of additives and fillers. All you will find in the capsules are the herbs listed on the back of the bottle.
  • How should I store this product?
We recommend storing the products in a cool, dry place.

Good insight into Mahatma Gandhi as a person
Format: Kindle
I've read the autobiography of Mahatma Gandhi and have learnt a lot about him growing up in India. In spite of all my knowledge on him, I find this book an interesting read for it provides an insight into his personal advancement from a struggling lawyer to the Father of a Nation. It was inspiring to learn how he overcame each shortcoming and tried to live his life with honesty, integrity and transparency until his death. My only complaint with the book is that it is a bit short. It was a quick read. But, the content was good.

This first part of this book was great for learning about Gandhi's life
Format: Kindle
This first part of this book was great for learning about Gandhi's life. The pictures were enjoyable as well. Near the end of the first part of the book, the main ideas were being repeated. I didn't enjoy the second part of the book which focused on analyzing Gandhi's philosophy and also repeated many of the ideas made in the first part of the book.

A Rich and Wonderful Pictorial Biography
Format: Paperback
This is a beautiful book that tells Ghandi's story through wonderful photographs and a simple and elucidating text. Ghandi appears os a struggling human being who changes himself through hard work. It really is a story of transformation, and it's very well told here. I liked it so well, I used it as part of our study on world revolutions when I was teaching ninth grade last year, and the students also liked it very much.

A Tool for Study
Format: Kindle
Though this book feels like it has been cobbled together from different sources it provides a sense of Gandhi's spiritual growth and the sources for it. His ideas and principles are clearly and often repeatedly stated offering the student the benefit of repetition in varied words. I'll be reading it again and again to extract a summary of those. Recommended for beginning Gandhi explorers.

Off the couch and on the road
Format: Kindle
Even those who are happy in their circumstance may find themselves discontented with the sameness of their days. An adventure will relieve this, and perhaps we can make the adventure happen, and yet the sameness of our days is the very thing that holds us back. But then we read how someone actually did it, had a true adventure to match the best of our daydreams, and we think, I could do that, too! Beth Jusino’s Camino memoir is for everyone who has ever considered doing something extraordinary, something beyond everyday life. She freely admits her life was sedentary — as couch-bound as you or I — but then the notion of the Camino grew from daydream to impulse, and then became irresistible, and she was fortunate to have a husband who gladly came along. It’s a book of astonishing quality, the words well-chosen, each page proof of her craft. She engages us not only with her physical ordeal (which is considerable, until she finds better shoes along the way), but also with her wonderment at the things she sees, the people she meets on the way, and we are compelled along, turning each page to see what happens next. Her story is not only rich in anecdote but also in the wealth of reflection on what she sees and hears along the way. Some particular scenes that stay fixed in memory are her encounters with a flock of sheep she meets at just the point when she needs them — a Camino miracle! — and also her descriptions of the great storks in their huge nests on all the church steeples and other high points along the way. Again and again I marked passages in the text so that I may come back and enjoy them once more. It’s also a love story, and the measure of this is the way we begin to anticipate her moments of particular challenge when her husband will do whatever needs doing or say whatever she needs to hear. It’s his story as well as hers, and she knows this and sets it down, and in so doing, tells us that perhaps she could not have finished her journey without him. Those who have walked any part of the road to Santiago will relive moments in familiar places and perhaps see what they missed the first time along the way and gain a new insight, a fresh view of what they overlooked before. And they may think, yes, I’ll go again! But if you’ve never had an adventure and Santiago is no more than the stuff of your daydreams, if you have so far only imagined such an undertaking, if the sameness of your days holds you back, then read this book. Then go out and do it. But make sure you buy the right shoes.
