About the work

Caragh Thuring  has created a series of unique monotype prints entitled I had it very fantastically arranged, 2021 especially for Whitechapel Gallery to accompany the exhibition Eileen Agar: Angel of Anarchy, 19 May – 29 Aug 2021.

Thuring takes the title for her series, from an interview with Eileen Agar, in which the latter describes how her studio was arranged. Agar delightedly repeats this phrase during the studio visit.  For Thuring these words encapsulate the process of making her edition: the variety of imagery, layers and bits and pieces.

To make each print, Thuring drew directly onto the printing plate and took a single printed impression. She then made  subsequent drawings and prints, without cleaning the printing plate, resulting in an evolving progression of varied imagery - each drawing containing the previous one. The edition of 30 was selected by the artist from the results chronologically.

Thuring’s process is a nod to the surrealist techniques of automatic drawing and free association. She allows what comes into her head to inform the subject matter, each image taking its lead from the last. Many of Thuring’s familiar themes and motifs feature; volcanoes, bricks, submarines, faces, abstract compositions and foliage make regular appearances.

About the artist

Caragh Thuring (B. 1972, Belgium) lives and works in London, and Argyll, Scotland. Thuring works primarily with painting, with periods of extensive visual research resulting in swift and light paintings often on unprimed, untreated linen canvas. Her subject matter often comes from architectural elements or landmarks observed in Thurings' lived environment. Previously, Thuring has worked with weavers from Suffolk and Belgium to create canvases woven with images of her previous works, highlighting her interest in sequence and repetition. Caragh Thuring’s work is held in the collections of Tate Gallery and Arts Council Collection.

Love!
Color: Blue, Size: Queen (U.S. Standard), Set name: Stretchy and Soft
Awesome cases! They really are cool to the touch. I didn’t sleep hot at all. I have a “cut-out” memory foam pillow, and this stretched around it perfectly. It is flexible enough that it doesn’t impede with the cut out. And while the material is “silky,” it doesn’t slide around the pillow while sleeping on it. The zipper feature is perfect. I washed and dried per the tag instructions and they washed very well. Super happy.

AMAZING - LOVE THESE!
Color: Blue, Size: Queen (U.S. Standard), Set name: Stretchy and Soft
I've been using these pillow cases for more than 6 months and LOVE them. They are well made, no wrinkling, fraying or wearing out, even with a weekly washing. I love the zippers on them, my pillows fits perfectly in the case and don't constantly escape from the case overnight. They definitely perform as described: they keep me cool at night and don't smell and actually don't make a mess of my hair. I bought an extra one and put it on a pillow I keep close to my body which helps me from overheating during the night. They are a great value for the price, I wish I could get top sheets in the same style as these and I'd be in heaven!

Cool Pillowcases
Color: Gray, Size: Queen (U.S. Standard), Set name: Stretchy and Soft
These pillow cases are silky soft and cool to the touch. They don’t stay as cool as I would like, however, so I find myself moving around on the pillow to find a cool spot or flipping the pillow over. I have washed them several times and the coolness seems to be diminishing. Still, it’s better than a regular cotton pillow case. The zipper is needed and helps keep the material on the pillow.

Comfortable and stays cool
Color: White-cooling Basic, Size: Queen(Pack of 1)
Great pillow. When i opened it, i noticed a strange smell, i assumed its the smell of whatever they use to make the pillow stay cool. You have to fluff it for a good amount of time to make sure the cooling agent spreads well in the foam. Is what i assumed atleast. Its a perfect amount of softness for me. Pair it with some bamboo pillow cases and you got a good night of sleep
