This set of six antique Louis XIII style dining chairs from the early 1900s features intricate scrollwork, carvings, and motifs. The chairs are upholstered in velvet with a multi-color fabric in shades of brown, green, red, and gold. The chairs have a wood base with a barley twist design, measuring 45 inches tall and 18.5 inches in width. Set Of 6 French Louis XIII Style Barley Twist Dining Chairs - 45 in tall x 18.5 x 18, seat height is 18. Turned and spiral-twist uprights and legs — a hallmark of the Louis XIII / Baroque Revival style popular from about 1870–1910. Highly carved crest rail with fruit, foliage, and scrollwork motifs, sometimes called “carved harvest” designs. Rectangular backs with arched and foliate crests, suggesting Northern European influence (Flemish or French Burgundy region work). Stretcher carvings — bulbous and barley-twist with leaf terminals — indicate hand carving, not later machine work.
