Minerals flow into Great Salt Lake at a rate of about 1.8 million metric tons per year, and stay there. The salinity level is far too high to support a fish population, yet life abounds! The lake is home to brine shrimp and blue-green algae, as well as over two hundred different species of birds. This ancient "lake-in-the-sky", at an elevation of more than 4100 feet above sea-level, is truly a magical place.
