How to Use

The Drip Kit can be used in a wide range of layouts and accommodate most garden watering requirements. The kit uses our pressure compensating drip emitters for even uniformity along the drip tubing. The drip emitters can be used to cover individual plants or closely planted groups of plants within the layout. This kit contains all the parts required to install a complete system for up to 150 SF. It can be connected into a 3/4" faucet/spigot or a garden hose. If a faucet is not adjacent to the garden or to the location of your drip irrigation installation, you may extend from the faucet using a garden hose or use additional length of ½” drip tubing (model B35 for 50‘or B36 for 100’). To start the installation, the backflow device can be mounted directly to the faucet or to the end of a garden hose. Please make sure to add the 25 PSI pressure regulator (included) after the backflow preventer. The pressure regulator is used to lower the incoming pressure from the faucet to the recommended operating pressure of 25 PSI, which is within the range of operating pressures for drip irrigation or micro-sprinkler systems.

  1. First review the area to be irrigated and then make a drawing of the garden or site with your preferred layout.
  2. To automate the drip system, install one of DIG's hose end timers (not included) before the backflow device.
  3. In the installation stage, to the faucet, first connect the backflow device, then the pressure regulator and then the 3/4" swivel adapter with the 60 mesh screen. If water quality is a concern, we highly recommend using a fine mesh 3/4" filter with 155 mesh (model D57A), not included with this kit.
  4. Layout the drip tubing per your drawing and secure the drip tubing to the ground using the stakes provided.
  5. Add fittings such as elbows and tees per your drawing layout, leaving the end of the drip tubing open. To install the 1/2" compression fittings, cut the drip tubing with a hand pruner, being careful to keep dirt from entering the line. Hold the compression fitting in one hand and the drip tubing in the other and force the drip tubing into the fitting by wiggling it from side to side. Make sure that the drip tubing is pushed into the compression fitting for about 1/2" to 5/8" for a very tight fit. No glue or clamps are required.
  6. The drip emitters are installed using one of two methods, either directly into the drip tubing or at the end of the micro tubing with the drip emitters placed under the plant canopy, at the center between the plant trunk and the plant canopy edge. One of the most common installation errors is using too few, and poorly spaced, emitters. Often only a single emitter is placed at the base of a newly planted tree or shrub. In clay soils, a single drip emitter can wet three to four feet in diameter; on sandy soils, however, the same layout using the same drip emitter will only wet an area less than one foot in diameter. Because plant roots can grow a few feet a year depending on the plant and locations, after one year the diameter of the root system might exceed the diameter of the watered area. A single emitter per tree or shrub could therefore restrict root development as early as the first year after planting. For this reason, it is especially important to place additional drip emitters around each plant, early in the plant's life. See soil type section for drip emitter placement.
  7. Turn the faucet on and flush the line for a few minutes to clean all debris that may be trapped inside the drip tubing. Then shut off the faucet and close the end of the 1/2" drip tubing using the 1/2" hose end included with the kit.
  8. Pressurize the system again, and make sure that the system is working correctly and no leak appears.
Note: To expand the kit we highly recommend continuing with the same model drip emitters. Review the instruction manual included with the kit for complete details.

Using drip irrigation, water first thing in the morning before the temperatures begin to rise. This will allow excess moisture on the leaves and top soil to dry before fungal and other diseases can develop. The most common cause of early plant death is over watering. Using drip irrigation can help sustain healthy plants by applying water directly to the plant root zone when and where it is needed. For established plantings, deep, infrequent watering is recommended. In most cases applying deep watering will encourage deeper rooting, which leads to stronger, healthier plants.

About the soil and suggested drip emitters spacing:

  • Sandy soil or light textured soil: Water percolates straight through before it can spread far enough horizontally, so use the drip emitters in close spacing of 10" to 12" apart. Apply water at close intervals such as every other day for 20 to 90 minutes depending on plant size and type, daylight conditions (full sun, partial sun or shaded) and weather pattern (cold to hot) with the plants under full sun in hot conditions getting the longer period.
  • Loamy soil or medium textured soil: This is the ideal soil condition with water moving slowly and spreading evenly, so use the drip emitters spaced 16" to 18" apart. Apply water at wider intervals such as every two to four days for 15 to 90 minutes depending on plant size, type, daylight conditions (full sun, partial sun or shaded) and weather pattern (cold to hot) with the plants under full sun in hot conditions getting the longer period.
  • Clay soil or heavy textured soil: Water is absorbed very slowly, so install the drip emitters at a spacing of 18" to 24" apart. Apply water at longer intervals such as every three to five days for 30 minutes to 60 minutes depending on flow rate, plant size and type, daylight conditions (full sun, partial sun or shaded) and weather pattern (cold to hot) with the plants under full sun in hot condition getting the longer period.

The easiest and best tooth brush!
Color: Pink (2-pack)
Ive tried several other dog tooth brushes for my 74 lbs Coonhound. This style and brand is the only one that is easy and works for us. It's easy to move your finger around and all sides of it have the cleaning nodules so no matter which way your finger turns, they are always touching her teeth. I like to try to open her mouth and get the inside of the mouth too. I loop my finger around her fangs. It is soft without harder parts so it doesn't make her pull away. This brush is perfect. It's a good quality and comes with a container for storage.

Total GAME CHANGER - incredibly effective toothbrush for dogs
Color: Clear (2-pack)
This silicon finger brush is incredibly easy to use - and so EFFECTIVE (more on that in the last paragraph this review). At first, it seemed a little hard to get on my finger but I simply got my finger wet first under the faucet and it slipped right on with virtually no effort. And once on, it's easy to take off but doesn't slip off accidentally when in use - so - perfect! Quick & simply to clean - rinses off in the sink in seconds, and ready to use the next time. And, my dog not only lets me clean her teeth - she actually like it (this from a dog who used to hate it when I would try to brush her teeth with a regular doggy toothbrush). This silicon "brush" is incredibly maneuverable - way more so than standard dog toothbrushes or regular finger brushes. So much so it makes it super easy to not only get those normally impossible to reach back molars - AND - even the back sides of the teeth! With a normal dog tooth brush (or finger brush) my dog's clamping down made that impossible. Now, it's not only possible - it's easy! Our dog's canine teeth had build-up but it was not until I pulled her gums back and looked at her back molars that I saw how bad things had gotten - and we have a young dog! Her back molars not only had build-up but some appeared to be stained a tea colored brown that did not come off with my fingernail. It was pretty disheartening and I felt terrible. How could this happen so quickly? The vet said it was plaque (and not yet tartar) and that it wasn't bad enough to warrant a professional cleaning - yet - but that I needed to do a better job brushing. He said: "I can see exactly where your brushing stops" (referring to the condition on the back molars which I had not been able to do with a regular brush as my dog just wasn't having it). Tips: here's what's working for us. Instead of squeezing out a pea sized blog of tooth paste onto this brush, I put a tiny dab - that it's - on the very tip of the brush and focus my efforts on two of our dog's worst teeth on one side - on top and then on the bottom. Then I put another small dab and repeat on the other side of her mouth with 4 teeth on that side. Then, I use another small dab and focus work on another group of teeth. All totaled, I'm using maybe 4 to 6 very small dabs of dog toothpaste, probably half the size of pea collectively, perhaps less. That's it. However much you choose to use is up to you - be sure and use an amount that's safe and effective for your dog. Effectiveness: this works and it works well! In just 3 days using the same vanilla flavored enzymatic toothpaste by CET I was seeing improvement. By day 7, that improvement was so obvious I was actually surprised by how much better they looked. It's now been a little over two weeks and they are looking considerably better! Conservatively, I'm thinking a 50% improvement. Not bad for just 2 weeks, right? I'm actually think I'm going to be able to completely reverse things - we'll see. I'll try and update this review again in a few weeks and let you know how it's looking but in the meantime, I am absolutely thrilled with this brush. I paid $16 and it came 2 in a pack) and the first (and only one) I've been using still looks brand new after it's rinsed off. All in all - this brush is a game changer! I can now brush our dogs back teeth and even the back sides of her teeth, all in less than a couple minutes a day.

Great dog toothbrush!
Color: Blue (2-pack)
I’ve been using this product for a year now, and it’s been working great. When paired with vanilla mint enzymatic toothpaste, it effectively cleans my Pomsky’s teeth, including the back teeth. As a result, my fur baby’s teeth remain as white as ever!
