Stephanie Cooke is an award-nominated writer based out of Toronto, Canada. Some of her graphic novels include ParaNorthern, Oh My Gods, and The Racc Pack, with bestselling creator, Whitney Gardner. She’s additionally worked on titles such as My Little Pony, Cat Ninja, Archie Comics, and more. She’s an avid reader, gamer, movie watcher, and pun connoisseur. In the rare moment Whitney isn’t writing or drawing, she’s likely to be reading comics, running D&D campaigns, or roasting coffee. heywhitney.comBrittney Williams is a Los Angeles–based creative originally from South Carolina. Williams is a storyboard and comic book artist who draws A LOT. In 2012 she interned at Walt Disney Animation Studios as a storyboard artist. Since then, she's worked for a variety of animation studios and publishers including Netflix, Cartoon Network, Dreamworks TV, BOOM! Studios, DC Comics, and Marvel Comics. Horrendous, Even for a Required Textbook
Format: Paperback
Normally reviews aren't necessary for school textbooks. They're required. You're buying this whether you want to or not. However, I feel I need to take a moment and record how awful this book is. It's sexist, unhelpful, and is written as if the authors are talking down to a reader. You can't even complete the exercises after reading the chapters, and the book provides no answers if you were to try. I learned nothing from this text, except that women are smart and healthy and men are sick and stupid. These are stereotypes texts can easily avoid. Instead, this text sought out those stereotypes, going out of its way to reinforce them. Textbooks should put readers to sleep at worst, not actively insult them. And to be clear, this isn't about the fact that women live longer. This complaint concerns that every single example in the text that concerns a sickly individual uses a male pronoun, and every example in the text that concerns a healthy individual uses a female pronoun. The sexism grows from there. Textbooks have to try to be this poor. In that regard, and that regard alone, this one succeeded.
If you're about to take a class that requires this textbook, reconsider your life trajectory. Something is going wrong.
Also, and this is petty, but the comics made for this textbook are probably the worst I've ever seen. The art is so poor it's not even funny. My dog could do better.

Helpful and to the point.

As an undergrad psych student, It's a helpful little book! It essentially has everything the full DSM-5 has but skips all the word foreplay and gets right to the point.
