The acclaimed National Book Award winner gives us a collection of spellbinding new essays that, read together, form a jigsaw-puzzle portrait of an extraordinary man. With the publication of his best-selling Of Wolves and Men, and with the astonishing originality of Arctic Dreams, Barry Lopez established himself as that rare writer whose every book is an event, for both critics and his devoted readership. Now, in About This Life, he takes us on a literal and figurative journey across the terrain of autobiography, assembling essays of great wisdom and insight. Here is far-flung travel (the beauty of remote Hokkaido Island, the over-explored Gal pagos, enigmatic Bonaire); a naturalist's contention (Why does our society inevitably strip political power from people with intimate knowledge of the land small-scale farmers, Native Americans, Eskimos, cowboys?); and pure adventure (a dizzying series of around-the-world journeys with air freight everything from penguins to pianos). And here, too, are seven exquisite memory pieces hauntingly lyrical yet unsentimental recollections that represent Lopez's most personal work to date, and which will be read as classics of the personal essay for years to come. In writing about nature and people from around the world, by exploring the questions of our age, and, above all, by sharing a new openness about himself, Barry Lopez gives us a book that is at once vastly erudite yet intimate: a magically written and provocative work by a major American writer at the top of his form.Binding Type: Paperback

Works well to protect face
Color: Classic
Works well to protect face from sun and is not too oily. However, it needs more of tint to it and is too white.

I have been looking for this cream all my life. and found it.
Color: Classic
Very convenient packaging (I do not need a dispenser) it can withstand a long time in the sun, is almost not washed off by sea water, the skin is soft even after a shower, the consumption is economical as it is applied with a fairly light layer. Worked out every dollar 👌🏽Love it!!

Doesn't work, got burnt
Color: Classic
This is very tinted, stains what it touches. I reapplied 3 times throughout a 3 hour span while at a beach in Florida and got burnt, particularly around swimsuit straps (despite being extra careful to get under the straps). It goes on pretty smoothly and eventually clear but would not recommend due to lack of sun protection.

Not as great as I hoped
Color: Classic, Color: Classic
Bought because of high praise from esthetician on social media. Overall, not worth the price.
Pros-
Did work as a sunscreen.
Had no reaction or breakouts from it.
Socially conscious brand/product.
Cons-
-Very thick and paste like. Hard to spread around dry areas. I would prefer a lighter formula.
-Even though it is tinted (got the classic) and I am pale skinned this made me look washed out. Wore it in my face one day and people kept asking me if I was "feeling okay".
- When I wore it on my body it would get tinted sunscreen on my clothes and was very difficult to get the color out. I wear sunscreen all year around in any weather and I would only recommend this if you are going to the beach/pool so you don't get stains on nicer clothes.

Great texture, spreads easily, matte finish. Beautiful!
Color: Classic
Love this sunscreen! It glides over the skin, doesn't leave a white cast even on my brown skin, and it stays put. I love the texture. It's similar to paula's choice resist mineral sunscreen but a higher spf. I use it on my face too.
