Membership of the King James Cask Club offers a rare opportunity to take part in the revival of whisky making in Stirling.

At the heart of the club is the VI Casks for King James - a limited-edition six-bottle set matured across six different cask finishes: bourbon, sherry, port, rum, wine and madeira. Each bottle is individually shaped by its respective cask, allowing the character of the wood to influence the flavour of our award-winning new-make spirit.

The whisky is laid down in a traditional dunnage warehouse in sight of Stirling Castle, where minimal seasonal temperature variation provides ideal long-term maturation conditions.

Named in honour of King James VI, who was said to have stabled his horses on the land the distillery now occupies, this project forms part of Stirling’s rich whisky heritage.

Bottles will be released bi-annually from 2027, beginning with the sherry and bourbon cask finishes.

Whisky has not been produced in Stirling since 1852, when the original Stirling Distillery closed its doors. That changed in 2023, as Stirling Distillery began producing its own new-make spirit - bringing whisky back to the city for the first time in over 170 years.
