Looking for an old photo?

We can help you find historic images taken by our photographers — moments that might be meaningful to you, your whānau, or your community.

To get started, fill out the form above with as much detail as you can. A research fee covers the time it takes to search our archives. Please note this fee is non-refundable. If we find the photo, we’ll email you a low-res preview and provide you with a link to complete the purchase.

What we need from you:

Dunedin used to have three newspapers: The Otago Daily Times, Otago Witness and The Evening Star. We can search all three, but we’ll need to know which paper and the exact date the photo was published. If you don’t know the day, a specific month will help. Unfortunately, just the year isn’t enough for us to search, especially for dates before 1984, where we do need the exact date. Note that we charge a higher research fee to cover the additional work required to find pre-1984 images.

If you're local, the Dunedin Public Library has old editions on microfiche, which might help you track down the right date. The Hocken Library also has a comprehensive archive and may be able to assist.

Note: The research fee doesn’t include the purchase of prints. Rates are listed below.

Sizes and rates:

  • A5 - 20x15cm - $24
  • A4 - 30x20cm - $33
  • A3 - 42x27cm - $60
  • A2 - 59x39cm - $90
  • Digital file - Price on application

New Zealand wide shipping offered at no charge. Please allow 20 working days for your request to be processed.

A few tips to guide your search

  • We don’t have ODT negatives from before late 1969.
  • For ODT images before 1984, there’s no full index. We have some proof books, but they’re incomplete. If you can provide a publication date, or at least a month and year, we can usually track the image down.
  • ODT images from mid-1984 onwards are much easier to find. These are indexed in monthly scrapbooks with negative numbers.
  • We don’t hold original negatives for the Otago Witness. Images can be copied from the published pages, but they will show a halftone screen. Final quality depends on the size of the original printed image. Paper Past is the best place to find Otago Witness publication dates.
  • Evening Star 35mm negatives from mid-1966 to the paper’s closure in 1979 are fully indexed and dated. These are generally easy to find and may include extra images that were never published.
  • Evening Star glass plate negatives are still being sorted and indexed. Plates from March 1948 to the late 1960s can sometimes be located, but results can be hit and miss.

A good read
Format: Kindle
A good read, just fluffy cuteness, no antagonism. I like all the characters. It could have used another round of editing however, glanfds being one error that cracked me up, and my personal pet peeve was that the author kept using the word fill instead of feel, which I promise you are not interchangeable haha, but it's definitely better than the majority of books I read on here mistake-wise.

amazing
Format: Kindle
Knot the Bride was a fantastic read! The characters were all amazing and well-developed. It was easy to like them all. Sophia, Luca, Nick, and Gavin were all perfect for each other. It was such a charming story that had me hooked the entire time. I did wish there were POVs from Luca, Nick, and Gavin but it was still an amazing book without it. I am excited to read the next book in the Willowside Omegaverse series! This is definitely a must-read for fans of omegaverse romance!. I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

3 Star Read,
Format: Kindle
This book wasn't bad, but wasn't my cup of tea. It's highly disappointing because the storyline is so original. There is no real conflict or resolution, so the entire thing feels flat. As a lover of omegaverse books, I know there is a ton of variety out there, and ov is really up to the author. But this one is weird. Omegas have multiple scent glands all over their bodies and go into week long heats every month. Alphas have knots in the middle of their shaft instead of the base, and the knot doesn't always swell, no explanation of when or why. It doesn't engage at all when the mouth is in play. I also didn't enjoy the author's writing style. Each paragraph is only 1 or 2 sentences long, and the entire book reads very stacato. The conversations are stiff and unnatural feeling. Everything is very repetitive, both in word choice and in thought. The same thing is repeated 3 or 4 times over a single page, multiple times over. I ended up doing so much skimming. The first 50% of the book is all slow burn, and the last 50% is almost straight mediocre spice. This wouldn't have been all bad if the grammar and spelling errors didn't start at the exact same time. Tongue is repeatedly misspelled in the middle of the spice.

Cozy Omegaverse
Format: Kindle
This is the true definition of Cozy Omegaverse. LA wedding coordinator meets her pack at the location for a couple’s destination wedding. Low angst because they are scent matched high heat with heats and knots. Everything you love about this genre with very little anxiety. Simply a fun experience to read and a book I will comeback to when I’m in a slump. I simply love reading this book

Cute Omegaverse story
Format: Kindle
3.75 stars and 2 for spice. Adorable Omegaverse story about a wedding planner who has to go to a small town to plan a wedding for a movie star. While there, she meets her pack. This covers her struggles of not living there but trying to keep her relationship going with her 3 Alphas. It's a quick read and cute, so I recommend it for people who like light-hearted RH stories.
