As a youth, Carl Hart didn't see the value of school, studying just enough to stay on the basketball team. At the same time, he was immersed in street life. Today, he is a cutting-edge neuroscientist--Columbia University's first tenured African American professor in the sciences--whose landmark, controversial research is redefining our understanding of addiction. In this eye-opening memoir, he recalls his journey of self-discovery, how he escaped a life of crime and drugs and avoided becoming one of the crack addicts he now studies. Interweaving past and present, Hart examines the relationship between drugs and pleasure, choice, and motivation, both in the brain and in society. His findings shed new light on common ideas about race, poverty, and drugs and explain why current policies are failing.

Love the blue numbers
Not quite sure how to rate this. It's an attractive basic analog watch; I especially like the blue numbers. And my experience with the reliability and durability of Casio has always been terrific. But... it's huge. I am stunned to see the other review that states that this watch is too small and is suitable only for a child; I think the reviewer must have been reviewing some other model. This one is larger than any other watch I own, including a hand-me-down men's watch that I got from a friend. This is NOT a unisex watch and should not be advertised as such. But if Casio would make the same thing in a women's model, I would snap it up. UPDATE: When my smaller watch died, I finally started wearing this one. I've gotten used to the size, and now it looks and feels normal to me instead of huge. I adore the blue numbers--they make me happy every time I look at the watch.

Works in the pool!
This is my second watch like this. I wear it almost every day, including in aqua class. I like the size - big enough to read easily, but not too big. I originally bout this watch because I wanted an inexpensive watch to wear to the gym. I find myself reaching for it even when I am not going to the gym!
