Redolent with symbolism and images from the psalms, our 'Stag' fabric originated as a 14th-century pattern and contains the Wilton Diptych's depiction of a tethered stag with a crown round its neck (a heraldic sign of Richard II). A familiar Christian symbol, the stag also signifies the quest for God and God's presence in the world. Its many devotional implications make it one of our most popular fabrics. Original textiles of this pattern can be seen as part of The Met and V&A collections.
