Bureau B reissue Rolf Trostel's Inselmusik (1981). Rolf Trostel is a protagonist of the so-called Berliner Schule, or Berlin School (Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze). On his first album Inselmusik, he explores the sonic possibilities of the recently introduced PPG wavetable synthesizer. The music is based on live performances from the late 1970s by Trostel and Krautrock guitarist Günter Schickert. Formally speaking, Inselmusik is a demonstration of the PPG Wave Computer 360, a synthesizer. Rolf Trostel had worked briefly as a distributor for the manufacturer, affording him ample opportunity to play the instrument for presentation purposes. In terms of content, Inselmusik is minimalist, meditative and contemplative music, enriched with remarkable choral sounds, flutes and effects. Overlapping sequencer lines and dominant expanses with feel-good harmonies are carried along on calm, soothing beats. Trostel described his music at the time as "Klangfarbenkompositionen" - tonal, textural compositions. Wavetable synthesis is commonplace now - in considerably advanced form - and integrated in many soundcards or digital synthesizers. The version which featured in the PPG Wave Computer 360 was purist, to say the least. The clanging tones it created could be harsh or brittle at times. This highly distinctive sound, particularly in combination with the charming Roland CR-78 CompuRhythm drum machine amounted to a real surprise package back then. The latter's mighty kick has stood the test of time, sounding no less powerful today. Our ears have long since grown used to digital sounds and patterns crafted with wavetable technology. But the filterless, purist methodology deployed here serves to emphasize the work's unique sonic qualities. Inselmusik thus allows us to grasp just how astonishing these often raucous sounds must have seemed when first unleashed. Trostel's early releases have legitimately assumed the status of valuable contemporary documents, rarities amongst the few albums which illustrate how the sonic pioneer of wavetable synthesis played such a fundamental role in sonic development; Rolf Trostel recorded Inselmusik exclusively with this very synthesizer, a corresponding sequencer and CR-78 drum computer in his own home studio. The original pressing of 1000 LPs sold out in no time, encouraging Trostel to continue.

Gifted this to a sibling who is a student. I cannot imagine more suitable than this laptop. Occasionally used for video editing as well. Perfectly combines power with portability. And most importantly it is reliable, always ready for anything when and wherever you need it. Beautifully crafted, amazing feel of materials, gorgeous screen, and affordable price for this level of quality. Simply a pleasure to use for every kind of task and entertainment. MacOS includes all the necessary tools out of the box, UI is snappy, and although the screen is 60Hz but due to smaller screen size UI feels I would say like 90Hz, i.e. smooth enough, and I am a MacBook Pro user with pro motion display. No fan, no noise, yet it doesn’t get warm with daily tasks. Easy to recommend.

Expensive, refined, and exactly what it should be
This is one of those products where there isn’t much to overthink it. The Apple Pencil Pro does exactly what it’s supposed to do, does it consistently, and integrates seamlessly with the iPad. It’s not cheap, and it doesn’t try to be revolutionary — it’s just very well executed.
Performance and usability
Responsiveness is excellent. There’s no noticeable latency, pairing is instant, and charging via the magnetic attachment is still one of the cleanest implementations Apple has ever done. You never think about battery life or connection issues — it just works.
The new squeeze gesture is genuinely useful and makes switching tools faster without breaking flow. The tilt support is well implemented and will be especially appreciated by artists, even if it’s not something every user relies on heavily.
Feel and design
The build quality is exactly what you’d expect. It feels solid, balanced, and premium. That said, the writing feel is still very smooth-on-smooth, which isn’t particularly pencil-like. Screen protectors help with that, but out of the box it’s not a perfect analog feel.
Color options are still nonexistent, which is a bummer but that’s always been the case.
Compatibility and pricing
Requiring the Pro model for newer iPads is frustrating, but not surprising. It’s clearly part of Apple’s broader product segmentation strategy. While that won’t sit well with everyone, the Pencil Pro itself delivers enough refinement that it doesn’t feel like a compromised purchase.
Minor quirks
On rare occasions, if the iPad hasn’t been used in a while, the Pencil may not immediately reconnect. Placing it back on the magnetic charger instantly resolves this, so it’s more of a momentary hiccup than a real issue.
Final thoughts
There’s nothing here that feels half-baked. You can nitpick price, texture, or ecosystem decisions, but in actual daily use, none of those detract meaningfully from the experience. The Apple Pencil Pro is reliable, polished, and purpose-built — which is exactly what most people want from it.
Five stars - Expensive, but extremely refined. If you’re in the iPad ecosystem, this is the best stylus experience available

Great Apple Pencil
This Apple Pencil is great! I bought it to work with my new iPad Air 11” M4. It is perfectly compatible and connected without any difficulty. I love that it attaches magnetically to my iPad to charge and there’s no separate charger. It also pairs much more easily with my iPad than my previous Apple Pencil Pro. The material is smooth but not slippery, and comfortable to hold. The tips are durable and last a long time. The pencil is accurate and glides smoothly over the iPad screen, making it a pleasure to use, especially for drawing or painting. It is a good value for the money. I’m very pleased with this purchase and would definitely buy it again.
