Released to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the ‘Summer of Love’ phenomenon, High Flying Around tells the story of the vibrant music scene in Leicester during the latter part of the 1960s through the eyes of the people that were there.

The book tells the story in two parts – firstly via the remaining members of Legay, a massively popular Leicester mod / psychedelic band whose fan base encompassed the East Midlands.

Secondly, through those that were actively taking part in the scene; DJs, designers, agents, musicians, mods and those that attended the vast number of venues across the city and county.

The book includes a fascinating foreword by Dr Su Barton on the social DNA of Leicester during the 1960s and how it affected the young people of the day.

About the Author

Shaun Knapp is Leicester born and bred and has spent many years in the city’s venues standing on sticky floors and cigarette ends watching aspiring and established Leicester bands rise, fall and sometimes hit the big time.

Shaun grew up with the Leicester music scene in his veins – his brother is John Knapp who played with two of the city’s most highly respected and much missed bands from the 60s and 70s: Legay and Gypsy.

With a double passion for contemporary local history and music and a background in city centre tourism and marketing, Shaun is the ideal person to tell the story of one of the most exciting eras in Leicester’s history.

Good shoe, seems physically big
I really like these shoes. I’ve been able to wear them for about a week now and am really impressed with how they’re holding up. A lot of my shoes start to squeak in a similar amount of time and these still feel like they just came out of the box. I especially like the heal support, it feels like it’s really gripping the heal nicely My one complaint is that they seem physically larger than most size 11 shoes from Nike I buy. In spite of fitting the same inside, the actual shoe seems about an inch longer than my other Nike size 11s. It’s not a deal breaker and it doesn’t impact the comfort, it might even make them more comfortable, but they look a bit large on my foot. And if you have a narrow foot, you might be swimming in these.

Can’t Miss Shoe
Size: 11, Color: White/Blue Crystal/Total Orange, Size: 11, Color: White/Blue Crystal/Total Orange
Great looking shoe! Fit to form, I wear a size 101/2 or 11 and I ordered a size 11 and they fit perfectly. Soft and comfortable perfect for walking as I suffer from knee and back pain at 59 years old…. Don’t judge me. Normal width size for me so not sure about the wide fit but the toe room for me is comfortable. Great choice will definitely recommend.

Yes Go Nike!
These Nike men's shoes are very comfortable. It's a pretty versatile shoe. I am able to work out in the gym, go for hikes, walk on the street and run errands all with ease and comfortability. They are sturdy, have good cushion and great support for your joints and back keeping you aligned. They lean on the more narrow side for fit so if you have wide feet they may not work for you. The green around the heal is attractive. The price I paid for the shoes was extremely reasonable making them a great value. I have been using them for a couple of months now and they are still in great shape. Excellent buy!

Nice fit, classy looking sweater
Size: Medium, Color: Navy Blue
I bought this for my husband because now that he is retired and lost weight, he needs casual clothing to go out and socialize. This sweater is both classic and sporty, working well in a golf course or a night out. It is soft, washes well and fit perfectly. I am ordering more in different styles and colors. It is light weight and not bulky.
