The Ultimate Collection series of “Purple Rain,” a monumental masterpiece that became the first No. 1 album in the U.S. in 1984 and ushered in the Prince era around the world with a highly successful movie in which he starred! The fourth compilation, “THE ALTERNATES”, is the latest compilation of rare tracks that have not been included in the previous series. CD1 is an alternate album with different versions of all the tracks, and mainly contains different mixes before the completion of the album. Also included is “Gotta Shake This Feeling,” the original version of the classic “Purple Rain” from the First Avenue rehearsal. CD2 includes demo recordings of “Manic Monday” and “Sex Shooter,” which differ from the official versions, as well as a string overdub session of over 40 minutes of previously unreleased songs “Billy” and “Purple Rain. This is the fourth volume of the “THE ALTERNATES” series, which delves deeper than ever into the historically masterpiece album “Purple Rain” in an even more maniacal way.
