The flexibility of the talk button configurations means that the VITA Mini X can also be used as a talkback unit as part of a Dante® or AES67 network.
Settings can all be controlled using the Windows 10 app GlenController.
VITA Mini X is a Dante Broadway design, allowing for greater functionality and network bandwidth when compared to Ultimo based devices.
Two 4 Wire Circuits
The VITA Mini X has two 4 wire circuits. These are typically used as main programme on air, with a separate talkback circuit. The push buttons for each circuit are configurable and can operate in different modes, to allow configuration for different types of uses:
Latching on/off
Momentary push to talk (PTT)
Intelligent mode where a short tap is latching, but a longer hold becomes momentary
Always on and mutes when pressed (cough)
Pressing one button mutes the other circuit (talkback)
Headphone Monitoring
There is a 6.35mm jack socket for headphone monitoring. Each of the two 4 wire inputs can be selected to be in the left ear, right ear, or both ears of the headphones, depending on the user's preference. The level of each input can also be independently selected.
The headphone amplifier is intelligent and capable of driving correct levels into low or high impedance headphones and capable of connecting directly to both stereo or mono headphones and earpieces.
The headphone monitor also includes sidetone (at a configurable level). Sidetone is the commentator’s own voice.
Single Input
The VITA Mini X is a single user unit, with one high quality input. The input is mic/mic+48V switchable, on an XLR input, with a variable gain control.
As the VITA MINI X can be used for on air broadcast, Glensound’s Referee compressor limiter is used to control the audio levels and prevent any clipping. The Referee compressor has been developed over many years of working with sports commentators, and provides a gently increasing compression as the input signal approaches clipping. In normal use the compressor is not active as it only starts working as clipping approaches, so normal dynamic range is maintained.
Input/Headset Options
The VITA Mini X is available in 3 different options:
VITA Mini X/3F: With 3 pin female XLR mic input
VITA Mini X/4M: With 4 pin male headset connection (mono headphones)
VITA Mini X/5F: With 5 pin female headset connection
All versions also have the 6.35mm headphone jack socket.
Single Network Cable Link
The VITA Mini X is Dante/AES67 network audio compatible. The network connection is via a single Neutrik EtherCON RJ45. This link carries:
- 8 audio inputs
- 8 audio outputs
- Power over Ethernet (PoE)
AES67 & SMPTE ST-2110-30 Compliant
VITA Mini X utilises the Broadway chipset from Audinate (the company behind Dante).
The Broadway chipset has been designated as AES67 compliant by Audinate and as such it is possible to use the VITA Mini X in AES67 network environments. It can also be used in SMPTE ST-2110-30 environments when used with Dante Domain Manager.
Power
The VITA Mini X has two power source options: PoE from a network switch/midspan injector, or from an external 12VDC input on a barrel connector.
PPM Meter
A front panel 4 segment PPM meter showing -12 to +6dB in 6dB steps provides confidence to the user that their outgoing level is set correctly and can also be used as a visual aid to indicate that the microphone has been switched on to the programme output.
Routing
The Vita Mini X features 8 inputs and 8 outputs to the network. These additional channels allow for some extra functionality across the network:
Dante output 1 is the switched programme circuit output
Dante output 2 is a permanently active mic
Dante output 3 is the switched talkback circuit output
Dante output 4 is a mix of Dante inputs 1-3
Dante output 5 is a mix of Dante inputs 4-6
Dante output 6 is a mix of Dante inputs 1-6
Dante output 7 is a 750Hz tone
Dante output 8 is a 1kHz tone
The mix channels are all fixed gain and allow a simple way to create a talk group.
Network Remote Control
GlenController is a Windows 10 PC application, and it can be downloaded for free from https://www.glensound.co.uk/product-details/glencontroller/under the ‘Latest Version’ tab. When launched, GlenController scans the network for all connected VITA Mini X units, which show up on the left hand side. The function of each VITA Mini X is replicated on GlenController, with each unit receiving its own visual controller module.
Remote Control Of Mic Gain Levels
There is a setting to select +48V phantom power on/off. A rotary control then acts as the gain level up and down between 7dB to 70dB, with the meters indicating the level. This all operates in real time.
Talk Button Configuration
Directly clicking on the program or talkback button on GlenController will work in the same way as if it was pressed locally on the VITA Mini X itself. This allows an engineer to have remote control of the mic on/off function. Each button can be set independently in the following modes:
Momentary - button is active only when held
Latching - a single press locks the button on or off
Intelligent - a short press locks the button, where a longer press acts as momentary
Cough
Always ON
Always OFF
The operation of a button can also mute the other circuit. For example, this is used to mute the program mic when the talkback button is pressed.
Local Control Security
GlenController can disable the local controls on the unit. This gives security to the engineer using GlenController that they have full control of all levels and operation, and they cannot be overridden. If the pot lock or switch lock controls in GlenController are not active, then adjustment on the local unit will override the remote setting.

Good
Size: 1-Gallon
I’ve used this sprayer for applying fertilizer, insect control, and watering plants, and overall it works really well for basic lawn and garden jobs. The pump builds pressure quickly, and the adjustable nozzle gives a nice range from mist to stream. I also like the translucent tank because it makes it easy to see fluid levels while mixing.
The anti-clog filter is a nice feature and helped keep the spray consistent during use. It’s lightweight and comfortable to carry around the yard.
The only reason I’m giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that some of the plastic parts feel a little lightweight, and I noticed a slight drip from the nozzle after extended use. Still, for the price and performance, it’s a solid sprayer and gets the job done well.

Impressed so far

I have a large back yard, a pool and a stationary hose reel bolted to the house that holds around 250 feet of hose (depending on the hose). During the summer especially, we use this hose a lot. The reel had 200 feet of pretty good quality, heavy duty residential hose on it. That hose lasted over 20 years but was starting to show it's age and had been repaired several times. What's more, my wife hated the stuff. Her primary complaint was how heavy it was. She really struggled to drag it around the yard or wind it back on the reel. So it was time to replace it. My criteria: brass fittings, reasonably heavy duty and durable, decent price. Her criteria, lighter! So I searched the reviews and looked at damn near everything amazon sells and picked this stuff. I ended up buying two 50 foot hoses and one 100 foot hose.
So, here's what I think. The hose ends are heavy duty brass and well crimped. The little bits of plastic sleeve on each end are just branding and don't provide any other useful purpose. This isn't a criticism, just an observation. I cut them off. As others have mentioned, the female fittings are crimped a little tight. This makes it somewhat difficult to tighten them without twisting the hose. I put a little white lithium grease on mine and held the things in my hand - twisting back and forth until they lubed up and loosened up. No harm, no foul, I'd rather a little tight than loose. Once that was done, I connected all the sections and stretched the whole thing out in the yard. I connected one end to the faucet (hose reel), slapped a nozzle on the other end and turned on the water. It was a warm summer day, I let the hose fill with water and then went down the entire 200 foot length untwisting and straightening it all out. Then I left it bake in the sun for a couple hours under pressure. After that I turned off the water, and started inspecting the hose. I have about 80lbs of water pressure, left under pressure and cooking in the sun, the hose definitely swelled a little diameter wise, but no bulges or anything untoward. Connections all looked good, no leaks or malfunctions. So, I turned off the water and took off the nozzle and started winding it up on the reel. Now right away I could tell that this stuff was more pliable and significantly lighter then the hose it replaced. I carefully spooled it up on the reel and threaded a brass shutoff and brass quick connector on the end. That was the middle of June, 2023. It's now December 2023.
The verdict. I like the stuff, and more importantly, so does my wife. From my perspective, I like the color, it's easy to see and find in the grass, I don't trip over it or worry about not seeing it before I run over it while cutting the grass (you can laugh, but that accounted for one of the previous "repairs" I mentioned earlier). Now, when you pull hose off a reel, it tends to come off pretty straight, which automatically alleviates a bunch of twisting and kinking issues. Still, as you drag this stuff around the yard it keeps its shape pretty well and doesn't twist up or kink. It's flexible and yet "stiff" enough to drag around corners without issue. The hose itself has definitely faded a little colorwise, the end that gets the most use is less orange then the hose that spends most of its time wrapped on the reel, but not unduly so. After a summer of use, I'd have to say it's held up well, without any signs of terminal wear and tear. What does my wife think? She loves the stuff. It's much easier for her to use and wind back up. She really is the primary user, she does 90% of the pool "stuff", plant tending, gardening and watering. If she likes it, I'm good. So, we'll see, in a couple more years, if this hose doesn't hold up, I'll come back and let you know. For now I'd have to say, if you need a new hose, try this stuff.

Great hose!

5 stars without hesitation. This Flexzilla Garden Hose 5/8 in. x 100 ft. is legitimately one of the best hoses I’ve used. It’s actually flexible like advertised, doesn’t fight you every time you move it around, and it feels way more durable than the cheap stiff hoses from big box stores. I honestly don’t understand a lot of the complaints, mine has held up great, doesn’t kink nearly as bad as others I’ve owned, and is super easy to coil up. Solid hose.

If you want to buy your last hose then flexzilla is your hose.

O.K. if you are reading my review I can honestly say that I don't think anyone knows what they are buying with this hose like I do as Amazon has the record of when I bought 100 feet of this hose. Long Long Long term user=purchased in 2017. I used this hose today and it looks-feels-works like it did the day I hooked it up on my reel. So flexible you can use it for a tourniquet if required. Hot-cold it don't matter this hose is the best. I am 70 yrs. old and it is the best hose I ever used in my life. Buy this hose once and then be done. Never kinks and not to heavy when moving around. Buy some and get on with whatever work you need to wash and then roll it up and forget about it.
