A rich and smoky blended Irish whiskey from Sliabh Liag Distillers, Dark Silkie is an ode to Donegal whiskies of the past. Made with a combination of triple distilled peated Irish single malts, Irish single malts and smooth grain whiskey, it has aromas of fresh apple, pear, peppery smoke and oak spice on the nose. The palate offers notes of salted caramel, pipe tobacco, liquorice, dark chocolate, toffee and pears.
Dark Silkie has at its core a triple distilled peated single malt which is matured in sherry casks. This single malt is peated to 55ppm (parts per million) which after the triple distillation results in a phenol level around 22ppm giving a rich sweet smoky flavour. The peated single malt is blended with a double distilled single malt matured in bourbon barrels and soft grain whiskey matured in virgin oak casks.
