Libec NX-400MQC Professional Carbon Fiber Tripod System: Elite 75mm Lightweight Production Rig (NH40 Head / QL40C Legs / BR-2B Mid-Spreader / FP-1B Feet / Long Plate S / RC-30 Bag)

In the fast-paced realms of documentary filmmaking, run-and-gun cinema production, corporate videography, and demanding on-location electronic news gathering (ENG), agility must not come at the expense of precision. The Libec NX-400MQC Carbon Fiber Tripod System is a professional-tier, high-mobility camera support package built precisely to eliminate structural wobble while drastically minimizing the operator's transit weight.

Optimized for configurations up to a robust 10kg (22.0 lbs) payload capacity, this Japanese-engineered system natively supports fully outfitted hybrid mirrorless cages, broadcast camcorders, and mid-sized modular cinema packages (such as the RED Komodo, Sony FX6, or Canon C70) paired with heavy production lenses.

1. NH40 Fluid Head: Precision Advanced Drag & Stepped Counterbalance

The core performance of this configuration stems from the Libec NH40 professional fluid head. Completely redesigned internally from advanced, durable metal castings, it tackles the microscopic play and rotational backlash common in budget camera heads.

  • 5-Step Variable Counterbalance (4 Steps + Free): Unlike basic "fixed" or single-stage fluid heads, the NH40 utilizes a multi-step counterbalance dial. This lets you calibrate internal spring pressure precisely to counteract your rig's center of gravity across different weights up to 10kg. Your camera stays steady and balanced at any tilt angle (+90° to -70°).

  • Advanced Laminated Metal Structure Drag (3 Steps + Free): Rather than standard low-cost plastic drag discs, Libec employs a high-grade layered metal component architecture. Combined with premium silicone grease, it delivers exceptionally smooth pans and tilts, eliminating stick-slip or sudden resistance on starts and stops.

  • Extreme Weather Performance: This specialized internal build provides consistent panning resistance across harsh temperature variations ranging from -40°C to +60°C (-40°F to +140°F)—it will not lock up in freezing cold or slip in high-desert heat.

  • Dual-Base Versatility: The head utilizes an integrated 75mm half-ball base with an underlying flat-bottom option. Simply remove the spacer from the bottom bowl tie-down to easily migrate the fluid head directly onto flat-base linear sliders, jib cranes, or skater dollies.

2. QL40C Carbon Fiber Legs: 1-Flip Multi-Tube Quick Locks

A high-performance fluid head requires an unyielding foundation. The Libec QL40C 2-stage carbon fiber tripod legs maximize torsional rigidity while shaving crucial pounds off your kit.

  • Patent-Pending Upper Quick Flip Locks: Traditional multi-stage video tripods force the operator to bend down and manually fiddle with multiple rotary dials or flip levers per leg stage. The QL40C streamlines this entirely with a single, top-mounted flip lever per leg section. Flipping one single upper lock instantly telescopes or collapses both lower leg stages simultaneously, saving valuable time on fast-moving sets.

  • Widened Carbon Fiber Architecture: To increase rigidity under payload, the diameter of the upper carbon fiber weave tubes is significantly widened. This structure absorbs intense tracking strain and high winds without bending, and features a built-in safety leg design to prevent finger pinches.

  • Integrated Structural Accessory Infrastructure: The tripod casting sports three sets of independent 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 female threaded accessory ports alongside an integrated weight hook. This allows you to bolt on articulating monitor arms, wireless transmitters, or heavy sandbags directly to the tripod framework without cluttering your camera cage.

3. Off-Ground Terrain Agility: BR-2B Spreader & FP-1B Foot Pads

This specific system layout is optimized to navigate uneven outdoor landscapes, hillside slopes, curbs, stairs, or rugged terrain.

  • BR-2B Telescopic Mid-Level Spreader: Instead of a floor spreader that requires perfectly flat surfaces, the telescopic BR-2B connects to the mid-section of the legs. This allows each individual leg to expand to a different length and angle, accommodating rocky inclines or stairs while protecting the system against twisting forces.

  • FP-1B Large Rubber Feet: Slipped directly over the tripod’s native heavy-duty stainless steel dual-spiked feet, this custom-engineered rubber set ensures high-traction grip on smooth gymnasiums, tile floors, or studio sets. Pull the rubber pads off in seconds to expose the metal claws for solid anchoring in dirt, mud, or grass.

4. Long Sliding Plate S: Expanded Balancing Range

When dealing with front-heavy matte boxes, long telephoto zooms, or extensive anamorphic lens blocks, achieving a center-of-gravity balance can be difficult on small plates. This system standardizes the configuration with the Libec Long Plate S. Measuring 9.4 inches long with an active sliding baseline of 3.7 inches, this aluminum alloy plate gives you plenty of room to slide a front-heavy or rear-heavy production package forward and backward until it hits its perfect center of gravity. Furthermore, the plate mechanism is fully cross-compatible with select industry-standard Manfrotto and Sachtler heads, allowing for fast cross-platform gear swaps.

5. Transit Protection with the RC-30 Bag

Safeguarding a professional carbon fiber asset requires specialized transit protection. The system includes the Libec RC-30 custom transport bag. Featuring a weather-resistant vinyl exterior, thick protective interior padding, a full-length heavy-duty zipper closure, a wide carry handle, and an integrated adjustable shoulder strap, it ensures the fluid head and carbon pipes stay safe from side-impact damage during transportation.

Slow, sorry but good
Format: Kindle
This was a slow moving book. Lots of character pov chapters, lots of superfluous descriptions and endless courtly appearances stalled this book to start. Once you get into the heart of the story, it takes off. Before you know it the book is done. My favorite character is Reyna. She is so strong. She is true to herself. She gets into a lot of trouble with her headstrong ways but it's entertaining. I have high hopes for Lorcan. He is honorable to a fault. Thane had turned out to be better than I thought but i still don't like him. Eislin is useless. Great plot twists at the end. I'm looking forward too book 2.

Very detailed! Beautiful world building! Strong Heroine!
Format: Kindle
Starts off a little slow and confusing with different POV’s, but starts to all come together towards the middle to make an elaborate plot line and makes it all worth it. Beautiful world building and attention to detail as well as great writing. The cliffhanger was gut wrenching! Can’t wait for the next book!

Interesting
Format: Kindle
This was a very captivating book once you got into it thoroughly. But the third person perspective was a bit hard to get used to. But as you got into it and followed the different characters, it was interesting and filled with intrigue, conflict and forbidden love. I can’t wait to read the next one and to complete the series.

OUTSTANDING
Format: Kindle
This was very, very good. The world is vast and characters are complex. There is a good plot with a whole lot going on. This is well written. Good twists and turns and some heart breaking moments. You will love these characters, they have heart and loyalty. I am hoping that there will be several more books. We've yet to see anything from the Sea Court but only a mention of them here and there. The Wood Court was given a quick couple of scenes, and only as far as some warriors, we've yet to enter their court and the Shadow Court, I'm not sure if they will be a force for good or bad, but they definitely will play a much bigger role moving forward. This is primarily the Ice and Air Courts. Told in multiple views, which I loved, it gives you a chance to see things from different eyes. There's alot of political maneuvering and deception. I loved it and will pick up the next book as it becomes available. If you like The Fae and the courts, you should love this. I think the author has mucn in store for us.

Definitely worth the read!
Format: Kindle
After taking a deep breath and taking in that wicked twist of an ending, I have finally composed myself. My first thought when I started this book was that I love Reyna's character. I was intrigued by her connection with her familiar and the Ruin that is plaguing her land. It came as no surprise that she took her sister's place in an attempt to protect her. When they reach the Air Court everything slows down. This is where it was iffy for me. First of all, I like multiple POV's in books however 7 is a bit much. It starts to interrupt the story line. I felt like I was finally making progress connecting with one character, then it was switched to another person. I felt they all had necessary or pertinent information but not necessarily were they all POV worthy. The only other thing that annoyed me was that Reyna constantly was " trapped." She would rush off without thinking, only to need rescuing. She is brilliant in a fight, but she really doesn't think through anything. Lorcan is amazing. I know he might be on the "bad" list, but his background is so interesting. Eislyn(Reyna's sister) is really so sweet, but calculating. I enjoyed her and Thane's dialogue. The author did an amazing job with the imagery in this book. Everything was so detailed it was easy to fall into the scene. I love unexpected twists and while part of the ending I expected, I wasn't expecting how it took place. All in all, I found it very entertaining and I am very invested in continuing this series. Favorite quotes: "The truth may be twisted but never false." "Who was she if she was not the enemy of the Air Court? What was her purpose of she no longer has that?" "In a war-torn land, love was always a lie."
