He recounts the assassination of Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum, the pillaging of Kirtland and Nauvoo and the sufferings committed to their people in their quest for sanctuary in the west and religious freedom. This uncensored document was indexed by the Works Progress Administration in 1938 and contains over 100 names listed in the index as well and an event index of over 15 pages. As the Mormons crossed the American frontier by oxen-pulled wagons and handcarts you will discover the beliefs they shared together to keep them united and strong in the face of destruction.
