Super Bloom 143 (Amaryllis stroke of midnight)I have been dreaming of doing a floral series! Using a silkscreen technique, each of these mono prints resembles a painting. I have been dreaming of doing a floral series!  Using a silkscreen technique, each of these mono prints resembles a painting.  What I love about it are the random oops and mistakes that can happen along the way that contribute to the perfect imperfections of each.

This piece is inspired by an Amaryllis flower that recently grew at our house in London.  During the long winter’s days, I am always looking for signs of life.  I have always wanted to try forcing a flower bulb to grow and it seemed very foreign, a bit strange to me.  Until this flower appeared.  It came from a box from the grocery store in the produce aisle.  My daughter was like - “Pick that one!”  A lone bulb in a box that promised a flower if watered and kept near sunlight.  My husband paid more attention to it than I did.  It looked pretty bleak in the beginning - a tiny green shoot emerging from the big bulb.  Then the daily reports started coming in - “Hey, look at that leaf... oooh, that looks like it will be a blossom, wow - it’s getting so tall.”  Then one day it blossomed - a firework candy burst of beauty in the middle of grey still days.

This piece is part of the EMERGENCE COLLECTION - celebrating the beauty of life percolating under the surface, waiting to burst forward into the spring.  A lesson in patience and grace and allowing Mother Nature to do her work.

One of a kind, hand painted on a silk screen, then printed on archival 300GSM paper and signed at the bottom right hand side.  I work out of a screen print studio in East London called The Print Club.

I do my best to capture the true colors of this original, but please note that colors may appear differently on your screen.

Due to the nature of the painting then the screen print process, there may be slight flaws that are part of the charm of an original, hand made mono print.

Translation not Literal!
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
The fist volume had a more literal translation then the second. If first Clement and Didache are in your reading list, Shepard of Hermas will fit there too!

At times it has been somewhat repetitive and tedious to read
Format: Hardcover
One of the earliest books in Christianity, The Shepherd of Hermas was probably written around 140AD, and avidly read for the first few hundred years. Likely its failure to become one of the recognized books of the Canon (Bible) had something to do with its fall-off in popularity. Today, while an Apocryphal book from the age of Apostolic Fathers, it seems arcane, and somewhat desultory. Nevertheless, one can see this book as a vision, a dream, or even an attempt to describe elements of purgatory. Both Latin and Greek copies, at least in part have been found, there are also parts missing which make reading it a bit of a challenge. At times it has been somewhat repetitive and tedious to read. I read the edition and translation from the Greek by Bart D. Ehrman: "The Apostolic Fathers Vol. II" from the Loeb Classical Library. The original author was claimed by some to be the brother of Pope Pius I. It is interesting to have a view into what the Council Fathers were looking at when deciding what to add to the Canon, and what not to add. The probings by our minds, between the dark and the daylight, are not so different a few thousand years later. How is God going to judge me and my sins? What must I do to prepare? What is within my ability and what is not? And where do I fit in His Kingdom?
