Beacon Sound and Jacktone Records announce a limited-edition joint vinyl release by Hugo RA Paris entitled Threaded Habitat. The new LP from Paris follows two of Jacktone's most popular releases: Mystique Youth (2015) and Horizons Beneath The Surface (2016), which appeared under his alias, Lavender. The transition to the Hugo RA Paris moniker with this album marks a more personal shift in approach. Threaded Habitat combines ambient textures and techno rhythms to reflect tension between humanity and nature - particularly the cyclical nature of collapse and renewal. It also marks Beacon Sound's first collaborative release with Jacktone, a Detroit and Berlin-based label co-owned by Darren Cutlip and Doc Sleep, specializing in techno, house, ambient, and experimental electronics. Paris resides in Portland and developed the flagship modular product for leading Eurorack manufacturer 4MS: the SWN. The album's closing track was entirely composed on a SWN prototype and recorded in one take. In fact, much of his work is done in layers of single takes with minimal processing to preserve it's raw emotion and embrace minor imperfections. As an MIT-trained engineer and physicist, working with hardware - from modulars to guitar pedals and tape loops - is essential to his process of not only making but exploring sound. Threaded Habitat captures moments of claustrophobia and bliss in seven tracks and three accompanying videos directed by New Zealand artist Sam Hamilton. Visual art plays a central role in many of Paris's projects, which include intricate audio-visual performances and scores for full-length films like The Modern Jungle (La Selva Negra) and it's forthcoming follow-up. Great upgrade for a rental apartment mattress
The mattress in my rental place is firm to the point where it almost feels unfinished. Instead of replacing it, I decided to try adding this topper. It made an immediate difference in the way the bed feels when I sit or lie down. There’s a nice cushioned layer that softens that “flat” feeling but still holds its shape. Another thing I noticed is how breathable it is. I expected thick padding to feel warm, but the airflow here feels better than the original mattress surface. Even after moving around, it never felt heavy or stuffy.

Soft and Comfortable Topper
I got this bamboo mattress topper for a small single bed we keep in our guest room, but I ended up testing it out myself first. The material feels soft and breathable, which is nice because that room can get a little warm in the afternoons. It adds a good amount of cushioning without making the bed too soft. After a couple of nights, my back actually felt better compared to the old mattress alone. I also appreciate that it’s machine washable, because our guest room sometimes doubles as a nap spot for my son after swim class, and spills happen. It dried pretty quickly in the dryer and kept its shape. Overall, it made the bed feel much more comfortable and fresh.

Added comfort for someone working night shifts
I work odd hours, so my sleep schedule is all over the place. My mattress has always felt a bit too stiff after long shifts, so I got this topper hoping it would help me relax faster. Good option for softening a college apartment bed
