Large hunting knives have been the trusted companions of outdoorsmen for centuries, prized for handling everything from field dressing to camp work with a single dependable blade. The oversized magnum hunting knife earned its name from its commanding size, built for hunters who wanted real reach, weight, and cutting power. Its bold clip point profile traces back to the classic American Bowie tradition that shaped frontier blades.

Stag-handled hunting knives became especially beloved among hunters and collectors, valued for their rugged natural look and secure grip in the field. As craftsmanship advanced, makers paired these handles with brightly polished blades and sturdy steel guards for both performance and presentation. This handmade magnum stag knife carries that proud heritage forward, blending classic hunting-knife function with eye-catching modern finish.

Introduction

This Handmade Magnum Stag Hunting Knife is a commanding full-size blade built for serious hunters and discerning collectors. With a 10-inch high-polished clip point blade and a 5-inch synthetic stag horn handle about 15 inches overall it delivers real presence and dependable cutting power. The mirror-bright blade and warm stag handle make it as striking on display as it is capable in the field.

A sturdy steel guard separates the blade from the grip for safe, confident handling, while full-tang construction gives the knife strength and balance throughout. It belongs to our hunting Bowie knives collection, where each blade is shaped and finished by hand so no two are alike. For another stag-handled option, the Stag Handle Hunting Knife makes a fitting companion.

Blade

The 10-inch blade is crafted from quality steel and given a high-polished, mirror-bright finish that showcases the craftsmanship behind every piece. Its classic clip point profile brings the tip low and sharp for precise, controlled cutting, while the generous length adds real chopping and field presence. Built to take and hold a keen working edge, it's a true performer for hunting and outdoor tasks alike.

Handle

The 5-inch handle is crafted from synthetic stag horn a durable, moisture-resistant material that captures the rugged look of natural antler while standing up to hard, everyday use. It offers a secure, comfortable grip in wet or dry conditions and won't crack or shift like some natural materials can. Set behind a sturdy steel guard and fitted to a full-tang frame, it gives the knife strength, balance, and a classic, collectible appearance.

Leather Sheath

This magnum knife ships with a hand-stitched genuine leather sheath, fitted to its large clip point blade for secure, protected carry. The leather guards the high-polished edge from moisture, scratches, and knocks while keeping the knife ready at your side or safely stored. Built to last as long as the blade, it's both practical field gear and a fitting home for a handmade piece.

Uses

This magnum stag knife is a versatile full-size field and display blade. It's ideal for hunting and field dressing, skinning game, camp tasks, chopping, and general outdoor work, while its size and mirror finish also make it a striking collector's and display piece. With its stag handle and steel guard, it makes a memorable gift for hunters, outdoorsmen, and knife enthusiasts alike.

Care Instructions

Keep this blade performing and looking its best with simple care. Hand-wash and dry the blade immediately after every use, never leave it wet or run it through a dishwasher. FAQs

What are the blade and handle sizes on this magnum stag hunting knife?

This knife features a 10-inch high-polished clip point blade and a 5-inch synthetic stag horn handle, for an overall length of about 15 inches. The full-size magnum proportions give it commanding presence while still handling hunting, field dressing, and heavy outdoor tasks with control.

Is the synthetic stag horn handle durable enough for hard outdoor use?

Yes. Synthetic stag horn is tough and moisture-resistant, capturing the look of natural antler while standing up better to hard use. Fitted behind a steel guard on a full-tang frame, it gives a secure grip in wet or dry conditions and won't crack or shift the way some natural materials can.

What is the steel guard on this large stag hunting knife designed to do?

The steel guard sits between the blade and handle to keep your hand safely behind the cutting edge during hard use. On a large magnum knife it adds both safety and balance, letting you apply force confidently during chopping, skinning, and field tasks without your grip sliding forward onto the blade.

Does this handmade magnum stag hunting knife include a leather sheath?

Yes. Every knife ships with a hand-stitched genuine leather sheath fitted to its large clip point blade. It protects the high-polished edge from moisture and impact while keeping the knife secure and ready to carry at your side or safely stored on display.

How do I care for the high-polished blade to keep it shining and rust-free?

Hand-wash and dry the blade right after use, then wipe the surface with a soft cloth to keep the mirror finish bright. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil periodically and store the knife in its leather sheath away from humidity to keep it shining and rust-free over time.

read!
Format: Kindle
I had to read this book for a political theory class, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Keysarr did a great job of researching and writing it. It was not as dry as some of the other, similar books I've read. I would definitely recommend this one, even if it's not for a class.

A useful study
Format: Hardcover
This is a book that will make you angry. If you are a conservative, this book should make you feel very guilty. It is important to begin with that this book is a detour from Keyssar's larger project, which was supposed to be a history of the American working class' electoral participation. After struggling with the work for several years he realized that he needed to publish a whole book explaining what the right to vote actually was in American history. The result is a history of the slow and uneven path to universal suffrage in American history. We learn about the existence of the vote before 1776, the improvement that occured with the revolution, and the larger improvement that occured with the Jeffersonian/Jacksonian period in which the large majority of white men were able to vote. At the same time we learn of efforts to counter the expanding suffrage, such as disfranchisement of free blacks all over the country before 1861, attacks on the voting rights of paupers, felons, migrants and aliens, as well as the disfranchisment in the early 1800s of the limited voting rights women had in the early 1800s. Keyssar then goes on to discuss the narrowing of the portals from the 1860s to the 1920s, periods ironically bounded by giving the vote to blacks in the 1870s and to women by the 1920s. But in between that period nearly all blacks and many whites were disenfranchised in the south, while literacy, residence, nationality and registration systems sought to limit the vote in the North (while "asiatics" were barred in the west). The book concludes with the successful passage of the Voting Rights Act and the twenty-sixth amendment, but also with low turnout, an extremely narrow political spectrum, and government structures which limit political participation and reinforce conservative values. Much of this will not be new to historians, though never before has there been such detail and the twenty appendixes provided at the back will be invaluable for future reference. Sometimes Keyssar gives a qualititative estimate of how many Americans could vote (he suggests that perhaps 60% of white Americans could vote before 1776, a figure much lower than the 80-90% posited by more Panglossian historians). And there are many interesting details, such as the New York plan where registration was supposed to take place on Yom Kippur, conventiently leaving out many Jews. But otherwise the full results have been reserved for his upcoming work. This weakens his criticisms of American exceptionalism, since without a clear understanding of how much the vote declined in the North, we cannot see how fully the ponderous elitism of Parkman and Godkin were like the undemocratic aspects of German or Italian or even British liberalism. I am also do not agree with his description of slaves as a "peasantry." This implies that the majority of white farmers who were not slaveholders were a) not peasants and b) were otherwise indistinguishable on a class basis from the slaveholders. Recent southern agrarian history makes this assumption quite questionable. It is true that Americans were unenthusiatic as Europeans about the rise of the proletariat and rural subaltern classes, but it is insufficient to say that mass suffrage only occured because such classes were a small proportion of the population. They were also a small proportion of the population in France in 1848 and 1851 when universal male suffrage was declared, which did not prevent a greater degree of struggle over the question in that country. Enfranchising the majority of any population would raise serious issues of class domination and control regardless of the class structure. Nevertheless this is still a useful study, and reading the petty, racist, misogynist, self-serving and self-satisfied arguments against the suffrage will be a depressing experience. To think that such injustices could be continued for two centuries thanks to the endless cant of "state's rights" long after the republican content of that slogan had drained away will infuriate you.

Unfolding of the right to vote in the U.S.
In my forty years of studying the history of the U.S., I find this work to be the most authoritative and complete work yet encountered. Not only is the book a thorough guide through the evolution of our democracy, it is an entertaining read. The book is a 'must' read for those who seek a perspective on many of the current issues involving voting rights.
