Equal parts cultural history and memoir, God, Dr. Buzzard, and the Bolito Man recounts a traditional way of life--that of the Geechee Indians of Sapelo Island-- that is threatened by change, with stories that speak to our deepest notions of family, community, and a connection to one's homeland.

Cornelia Walker Bailey models herself after the African griot, the tribal storytellers who keep the history of their people. Bailey's people are the Geechee, whose cultural identity has been largely preserved due to the relative isolation of Sapelo, a barrier island off the coast of Georgia. In this rich account, Bailey captures the experience of growing up in an island community that counted the spirits of its departed among its members, relied on pride and ingenuity in the face of hardship, and taught her firsthand how best to reap the bounty of the marshes, woods and ocean that surrounded her. The power of this memoir to evoke the life of Sapelo Island is remarkable, and the history it preserves is invaluable.

"A special book that reveals the unconquerable spirit of a people who, though torn from their African homeland, imprinted America with a unique culture that continues to endure." --Ebony

To Me it makes sense
It’s not a far jump to be able to see how many ancient rulers could have been of African decent. When you look at the relationship between North Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, and other ancient kingdoms in Africa. Of they would have been present in Eurasia! It’s common sense. I am having more difficulty figuring out Australia. Does the author mean the appearance of aboriginal Australians?

Very Good Quality 👍🏾
Color: Gold Polished, Color: Gold Polished
Good quality. Study with some weight to it. Was pleasantly surprised at how good this looks. The gold color is very shiny which is what I was looking for. The base is large enough to hold a thick roll of Viva paper towels.

Great Paper Towel Holder! Sturdy and Stylish
Color: Black
I’ve been using this paper towel holder for about 6 months now, and I’m very happy with it! The design is sleek and modern, making it a perfect fit for my kitchen. It’s made from durable steel, and I love that the finish still looks brand new after months of use. The best part is how easy it is to replace rolls. I can quickly swap out old rolls without any hassle. The weighted base and non-slip pad are fantastic features – I’ve accidentally bumped it a few times, and it hasn’t tipped over once. It stays securely in place, which is a huge plus. I also appreciate that it’s versatile enough to fit all paper towel sizes. Overall, this is a high-quality and functional product that’s also aesthetically pleasing. Highly recommend it if you’re looking for a sturdy, easy-to-use paper towel holder!
