Agave franzosinii, also known as 'Majestic Agave', is a large and visually appealing century plant. Growing up to 8 feet tall and 10 feet wide, it features a single open rosette with broad powdery bluish-gray leaves that gracefully undulate and bend. The underside of the leaves may have dark green patterns, giving the plant a dark variegation. Along the margins of the leaves are large teeth and a dark brown terminal spine. This species rarely blooms, but when it does, it produces a towering inflorescence with yellow flowers that attract birds and bees, including Orioles. After flowering, the main plant dies, though new shoots may emerge from rhizomes or several feet away from the main rosette. Place Agave franzosinii 'Majestic Agave' in a location with full sun and only water occasionally. This variety is tolerant of cold temperatures down to approximately 15 degrees F.
