Complete Product Overview – V-Guard VIC 01 V2 Induction Cooktop

The V-Guard VIC 01 V2 is a premium energy-efficient induction cooktop designed for Indian households. V-Guard, a Kochi-based electrical brand founded in 1977, brings four decades of reliability to kitchen cooking. The V2 designation specifically indicates the energy-efficiency version — consuming less power than standard induction cooktops while maintaining consistent cooking performance. At ₹5,199, the VIC 01 V2 offers an exceptional value proposition for families seeking modern induction cooking without premium-brand pricing.

This induction cooktop features multiple pre-set cooking modes tailored for Indian cooking — from boiling rice and dal to frying vegetables and warming milk. The smooth glass surface heats only the cookware, not the surrounding countertop, making it safer than traditional gas stoves. With a 3-year warranty on the induction coil and V-Guard's extensive South Indian service network, the VIC 01 V2 eliminates worries about repairs.

Key Features Breakdown – Why Choose V-Guard VIC 01 V2?

  • Energy-Efficient Power (2000W Nominal) — The V2 variant uses intelligent power management to reduce electricity consumption by 15-20% compared to standard 2200W models. For households running multiple appliances simultaneously, this translates to ₹200-400/month savings on electricity bills, recovering the product investment within 12-15 months.
  • Multiple Pre-Set Cooking Modes — Boiling mode (100°C for rice/dal), Frying mode (180°C for vegetables), Slow Cooking mode (60-80°C for milk warming and simmering), and Rapid mode (220°C for high-heat cooking). Each mode automatically regulates temperature, eliminating guesswork in Indian cooking.
  • Magnetic Induction Technology — Heats only ferrous (magnetic) cookware — iron, cast iron, and magnetic stainless steel. Aluminum and copper cookware won't work on induction, but most Indian cooking vessels (pressure cookers, heavy-bottomed pans, iron skillets) are magnetic.
  • 3-Year Warranty on Induction Coil — V-Guard's warranty covers the induction coil, the most expensive component. This is industry-standard for reputable brands. Electrical faults and power surges are covered; normal wear and material defects are excluded.
  • Smooth Glass Cooking Surface — Easy to clean with a damp cloth. No spillover risks like gas stoves. The glass surface doesn't retain heat after switching off, cooling within 30 seconds — safe for households with children and pets.
  • V-Guard South Indian Service Network — Kochi headquarters with authorized service centers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Karnataka. For service calls or spare parts, V-Guard has wider coverage than many competitors in South India.
  • Compact Footprint — Single-burner design fits any kitchen counter. Lightweight (2.5 kg) and portable — can be stored in a kitchen cabinet or transported to a second home.

Step-by-Step Setup & First Use Guide – V-Guard VIC 01 V2

  1. Unboxing & Safety Check — Remove the cooktop from the box. Inspect the glass surface for cracks or chips. Check the power cord for damage. Confirm the warranty card is included. Do NOT use the cooktop if the glass surface is cracked.
  2. Placement on a Stable Surface — Place the cooktop on a clean, flat, dry kitchen counter or dining table. Ensure the surface can support 2.5 kg weight plus cookware (typically 1-3 kg). Avoid placing near water sources, sinks, or areas prone to splashing.
  3. Power Connection — Plug the power cord into a grounded 15A or 20A electrical outlet. Do NOT use an extension cord or power strip (fire hazard). The outlet should be within 2 meters of the cooktop. If using in a rented space, ensure the electrical circuit is properly earthed.
  4. Cookware Compatibility Check — Test your cookware with a magnet. If a magnet sticks to the bottom of the pan, it's magnetic and will work on induction. If the magnet doesn't stick, the cookware is incompatible. Most Indian pressure cookers, heavy-bottomed pans, and cast iron are magnetic.
  5. Initial Power-On & Mode Selection — Turn on the cooktop using the power button. The digital display will show the default temperature (100°C). Use the mode buttons to select Boiling, Frying, Slow Cooking, or Rapid mode. The selected mode will blink on the display.
  6. Cookware Placement & Heat Activation — Place your magnetic cookware on the glass surface, centered over the induction coil. The cooktop will automatically detect the cookware and begin heating within 2-3 seconds. You'll see steam rising from the cookware as it heats.
  7. Temperature Adjustment — Use the +/- buttons to adjust temperature in 10°C increments. For boiling (rice, dal): set to 100-120°C. For frying (vegetables): set to 180-200°C. For slow cooking (milk): set to 60-80°C. The display will show the target temperature.
  8. Cooking & Shutdown — Once the target temperature is reached, the cooktop will maintain it automatically. Cooking time depends on quantity and cookware thickness. To shut down, press the power button. Remove cookware only after the glass surface cools (30-60 seconds). Never pour water on the hot glass to cool it.

V-Guard VIC 01 V2 vs Alternatives – Comparison for Indian Buyers

V-Guard VIC 01 V2 vs Pigeon Acer Plus 1800W (₹4,999)
V-Guard is slightly more expensive but offers better power management and a longer warranty (3 years vs 2 years). Pigeon has wider national distribution, but V-Guard has better service coverage in South India. Both are reliable brands. Choose V-Guard if you value energy efficiency and South Indian support; choose Pigeon if you need national availability.

V-Guard VIC 01 V2 vs Prestige Induction Cooktop (₹3,500-4,500)
Prestige is the oldest kitchen brand in India and widely available. However, Prestige focuses on cookware (pressure cookers) more than induction cooktops. V-Guard specializes in electrical appliances and has better induction technology. Both are good, but V-Guard's energy efficiency justifies the ₹500-700 premium.

V-Guard VIC 01 V2 vs Greenchef 2200W Infrared (₹6,999)
Greenchef uses infrared heating (works with all cookware) versus V-Guard's magnetic induction (magnetic cookware only). Greenchel is more versatile if you have aluminum cookware. V-Guard is more energy-efficient and ₹1,800 cheaper. For traditional Indian kitchens with magnetic cookware, V-Guard wins. For mixed cookware collections, Greenchef is better.

Frequently Asked Questions – V-Guard VIC 01 V2 Induction Cooktop

Q: Does the V-Guard VIC 01 V2 work with my pressure cooker?
A: Most Indian pressure cookers are magnetic and work perfectly on induction. Test with a magnet: if it sticks to the bottom, your pressure cooker will work. If not, it's aluminum or non-magnetic stainless steel and won't work on any induction cooktop.

Q: Is the 3-year warranty comprehensive?
A: The 3-year warranty covers manufacturing defects and electrical faults in the induction coil. It does NOT cover physical damage (cracks from dropping), water damage, power surges from ungrounded outlets, or normal wear. Warranty is honored at V-Guard authorized service centers across South India.

Q: Can I use the V-Guard cooktop on a wooden counter?
A: Yes, the cooktop surface stays relatively cool (only the cookware heats). However, wooden counters can discolor from heat exposure over months. We recommend using a kitchen towel or silicone mat under the cooktop for long-term use.

Q: What's the difference between V-Guard VIC 01 V2 and regular VIC 01?
A: The V2 (V2 Energy Efficient) designation means the unit is optimized for lower power consumption — typically 1700-1900W instead of 2200W. Performance is nearly identical; the main benefit is lower electricity bills.

Q: Is the cooktop portable? Can I take it to another house?
A: Yes. Weighing just 2.5 kg, you can unplug it and move it to any location with a grounded electrical outlet. Perfect for homes, hostels, offices, or rental apartments.

Q: How do I clean the glass surface?
A: Use a damp cloth with mild dish soap. Avoid abrasive scrubbers or steel wool. For stubborn stains, let water sit for 5 minutes, then wipe. Dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots. Never pour cold water on a hot surface (risk of thermal shock).

Q: Does V-Guard offer service in my city?
A: V-Guard has authorized service centers in 15+ major South Indian cities (Kochi, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad). Service availability varies by region. Contact us via WhatsApp, and we'll confirm your nearest service center.

Durable, Engaging, and Perfect for Small Dogs
Size: Small
The Starmark Everlasting Treat Bento Ball is fantastic! My small dog loves it, and it keeps them entertained for a long time. The toy is tough and durable, perfect for chewing, and the treat-dispensing feature makes playtime even more engaging. A great way to keep dogs mentally and physically stimulated.

Great toy, just no match for my dog
Size: Large
I love this toy but it was unfortunately no match for my 75lb catahoula leopard dog, it took her about an hour tops to rip the treat out of the ball entirely and walk off with it to eat it 🤣 the side I put a bunch of her smaller treats into kept her busy longer. I'll definitely keep using it, she absolutely loves it, but shes just too good at tearing things up 😅 To be fair, shes a really heavy chewer, and usually gets frozen marrow bones as treats. This is a great alternative, especially for the price, its nice and heavy, she hasnt chewed through the rubber yet, but it probably wont be long. She doesn't throw it around like she does her other balls, but when I toss it to her its got a good bounce.

KEEPS MY ENERGETIC 1 YR OLD LAB BUSY
Size: Large
Anyone that has a field Lab knows you have to keep them busy which is difficult with the snow that won’t melt and the unusual -15 degree windchills we are having in NYC. Like others I’ve wasted so much money on various toys and puzzles trying to keep her busy and mentally stimulated. She either destroys them in minutes or won’t touch them. However, these with treats inside are fantastic. She loves the chicken flavor treats that go inside the ball. The treats for the holder are pricey but worth it so it keeps her busy for a while and she doesn’t get super hyper with cabin fever. Once I can get her back outside for longer periods to play and run off her excess energy I probably won’t be buying them on a regular basis given the price and that they only last a couple of hours given her strong jaws….Probably only for a special treat. However, for now they are worth every penny. The only con is they are difficult to get into the holder which is good so she can’t remove it.

We love em!
Size: Medium, Size: Medium
My dog loves these! I get a size smaller so it’s harder for him to eat. He’s 70lbs I get him the medium and it will last him 4 ish days. I also fuill the back with dog safe peanut butter, broken treats, and his food. This keeps him happy while I’m at work :) for reference he’s a gsd, and Australian shepherd mix. He never lets it get too far away, and proudly carries it along even when empty. He had one for over a year that just now started to break. They are very strong, great for chewers, and worth their weight in gold! When empty they also make them have the funniest faces🤣 again my dog had the first one for over a year before it started to rip. They are hardy.

Wrong item sent
Size: Small, Size: Small
The bento ball itself is great but the extra 16 treats that were sent as part of the purchase were the wrong kind. The picture used in the Amazon ad is the one shown in the left part of the picture I posted (dome shaped treats with a dog named Lacey in the picture), and what I received is shown in the right part of the picture (ridged treats with a dog named Bella in the picture). The problem with the Bella treats is that they are a bit smaller than the Lacey treats which means that they dont fit sugly into the bento ball. This in turn means that my little maltipoo gets them out of the bento ball in a few minutes. This defeats the whol purpose of the treat, and even worse this is a choking hazard for small dogs which makes the product unusable for me. FYI - I have never had this problem with the Lacey treats - they work great which is why I bought this product since this is what was shown in the picture. I sent a message to the vendor about this but have not heard anything back. Amazon offered to refund me half of the total purchase price if I sent back both the ball and the 7 of the 8 treat packages (I opened one only to discover this problem), which is also not great.
