Description

Uncelebrated Sussex: Newhaven PrintFinding beauty and intrigue in the lesser celebrated parts of the Sussex coastline. Chris made the journey from Yorkshire to Newhaven every year as a child to catch the ferry to Dieppe. He has no recollection of the town, but he does remember the excitement of going up on deck and watching this slice of coastline slowly disappearing from view. Little did he know that 35 years later he would be living nearby and working with the local printmakers. 5

Chris Ketchell is an animation director, printmaker and sculptor living and working in East Sussex. His style is graphic and reductive. He is inspired by the film, tv and music of the 1960's and works with the bold graphics and vibrant colours synonymous with this era. Chris' work explores the craft and beauty in everyday objects, uncelebrated people and places. Whether it be in the deconstruction of a piece of coastal industrial machinery, or in celebration of the sculpture of a plastic toy soldier, attention to detail and the quality of finish are always key to his work.

Favorite toddler book
Format: Hardcover
Love love love this book. Bought it for my toddler and another for her friend as well. A good reminder to us parents that childhood memories are often made with messes.

Best Children's Book of 2024
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
My bibliophile kids (11 and 8) and I adore this book. The illustrations are delightfully inviting, the children are magically independent and loving, and the story encapsulates the gentle chaos of childhood in such a beautiful way. Highly recommend.

Great book!
Format: Hardcover
I hate when my kids make messes so this was the perfect book for me. It put things in perspective that messes aren't always a bad thing.
