The Contax G2 is a 35mm rangefinder camera body designed for the Contax G-mount lens system. It employs a hybrid autofocus system that combines active infrared with passive phase-matching for high focusing precision, complemented by manual focus control via a dedicated dial. The electronic rangefinder provides accurate subject acquisition, while the bright viewfinder features automatic parallax correction and zooming frame lines matched to the mounted lens.
The camera is built around a titanium-clad body, offering both durability and refined construction. It supports a vertically traveling electronic metal shutter with speeds from 16s to 1/6000s, plus Bulb mode, ensuring wide exposure flexibility. The shutter lag is minimized through electronic release control, making it responsive for a rangefinder system.
Exposure control is managed through aperture priority AE and manual exposure, with a center-weighted TTL metering system. Exposure compensation is available in precise steps, allowing accurate adjustments. The G2 also integrates motorized film advance and rewind, with continuous shooting up to 4 frames per second.
Additional functions include DX coding support (ISO 25–5000), self-timer, and compatibility with dedicated Contax TLA flash units via the hot shoe, enabling full TTL flash control. Power is supplied by two CR2 lithium batteries, ensuring stable operation of the camera’s electronic systems.

More work than it’s worth
It was great quality and the weight was nice, but it was odd having the open bottom and no spout to dribble into a cup when making an espresso. It was difficult to get the wire tool out of the end of the handle, making it difficult to use. I was not that impressed and it’s quite expensive.

Quality and Function
Looks like a silly little thing, I am not a coffee enthusiast. But it does exactly what it is supposed to do and with high quality. The device (a stretch to call it that) is made of sturdy materials including the needles. They give you two different thicknesses of needles, one for expressi (0.3) and one set for coffee grinds (0.4). Each comes wth some spares. The stand is well designed and keeps grinds from spreading all over. It is very elegant design. I use this with a dosing funnel on my portafilter. Not the cheapest one could buy but well worth the money.

Perfect WDT tool
Best WDT I’ve found. Love that it includes 0.3mm needles (as I’ve found that 0.4mm needles push the grounds around too much), and the stand is very clever. It knocks off the residual grounds on the needles and is easy to use. As far as WDT tools go, I can’t imagine anything better.
