Cynthia Miles is an observer of human nature and a good listener!
She says ÒI wrote this novel to remember another time when ÔNurse TrainingÕ appears to have been very different from today. Nursing itself was much more hands-on as many of the new inventions for diagnosis and treatment had not yet been discovered.
Also this novel should preserve some of the norms of the ÔSwinging SixtiesÕ. While in some locations Ôdrugs and free loveÕ were the norm in the ÔNursingÕ sorority there seemed to be more of a ÔFlorence NightingaleÕ spirit and a real sense of vocation widespread.Ó
This story is a fun look at many of the actual situations expressed by nurses in that time and is intended to show ThelmaÕs joie de vivre and indomitable character.
