In The Homeplace, the stories of a family become the history of a people as Marilyn Nelson Waniek sketches the lives descended from her great-great-grandmother Diverne. The poet's mother, Johnnie Mitchell Nelson, inspired this volume when she bequeathed to Waniek from her deathbed the tales that had shaped her life. The first section of the book presents those stories transformed into graceful, humorous, and deeply touching poems. In the book's second section Waniek honors her late father, Melvin Nelson, and tells the story of his "family" the fabled group of black World War II aviators known as the Tuskegee Airmen. Using the language and perspective of her father and his comrades, Waniek explores through a few of their individual stories the hardships and achievements of the thousand black flyers trained at Tuskegee Institute. Throughout The Homeplace, the reader is involved in a series of sharply portrayed lives. By telling a continuous story in a mix of free verse and traditional forms, Waniek gives her work pace and intensity. She handles the villanelle, the sonnet, and the popular ballad with equal skill and gusto. "I just knew we were going to live some history," Johnnie Nelson said at the end of her life. No show but stays on

I wear these socks daily. They truly don’t show with my workout shoes or with hey dudes. But the best thing about them is that they actually stay on your foot. I work out hard and I don’t ever have to pull them up. I do wish they were just a little bit thicker than they are, but they are definitely a product I will buy again.

Beautiful!

I share a very small apartment with my daughter so my bed is in the living area. This screen not only gives me privacy, but also makes me feel like I sleep in a Japanese lantern!
At night with the bedside lamp on it glows beautifully!

Japanese-Style 4-Panel Screen Room Divider: Beautiful, But...

I really like this product, and would gladly recommend it. But there are a few things you want to know before buy:
Likes 👍👍👍
- Looks great! See photos I shared.
- Works as advertised: divides your space and provides privacy, with elegance and style.
- Lightweight: It is super light and easy to move around.
Dislikes 👎👎👎
- Flimsy: according to the dictionary, that means "light and easily damaged" 🧐
- Pricey: Anything is worth what you're willing to pay for it! But I think this should be $75 tops!
- Shaky: You need to position it just right, or it could tip over really easily. I had to reposition mine because it almost got blown by a floor fan! True story 😅
- Print is on one side only which will bother some of you. I'm a recovering OCD 😂
My Verdict 🧐
- Despite its shortcomings, I like this thing, and I would buy it again! 😅 It has character and really adds to your space. So, now that you know what you're getting, you can make up your own mind! I've already bought mine 😉 Happy shopping 😊
