Life is a circle, just like the seasons, from youth through old age. The circle of the year brings seasonal rituals: a winter of preparation followed by a summer of powwows. Sharyl and Windy Downwind and their children travel from their home on the Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota to powwows all around the region. For the past year, their oldest daughter, Shian, has been honored as junior princess for Bug-o-nay-ge-shig School. At the Leech Lake Memorial Day gathering, Shian will hand over her crown to the next princess. Later that summer, the family attends the Red Lake Fourth of July powwow seeking healing and comfort. Windy is mourning his mother, who recently passed away, and also honoring her by dancing at the powwow. At ceremonies and in daily life, Windy and Sharyl celebrate Anishinaabe culture by teaching their children traditional skills, dance steps, and lifeways, all part of the circle of community and the seasons and life. "Clear, informative photographs help clarify the text and leave readers with the sense that they have accompanied the Downwinds. An ideal choice for classroom units on contemporary Native American life."--Booklist Award-winning poet, playwright, performance artist, and activist Marcie R. Rendon (White Earth) is the creator/producer for Raving Native Productions. Cheryl Walsh Bellville, a professional photographer for more than forty years, also writes and illustrates books for young readers.

I really love this! It looks so classy and it is good and heavy - feels expensive.

Simple, Solid, and Looks Great
Color: Antique Bronze
This is one of those simple things that just works exactly how you want it to.
First off, it looks really nice on the counter. The antique bronze finish has a slightly warm tone that doesn’t look cheap or overly shiny, and the design is clean enough to fit in with pretty much any kitchen style.
Assembly took maybe 30 seconds. You just screw the pieces together and it’s ready to go, no tools or fuss. Swapping out rolls is just as easy, and the top cap keeps everything in place without being annoying to deal with.
The weight is really what makes this stand out. The base is heavy enough that it stays put when you tear off a sheet, so you can actually use it one-handed without it tipping or sliding around. It feels solid and well made, not flimsy at all.
Size-wise, it fits a standard roll easily and still has room for larger rolls, so you’re not fighting to get a new one on.
Overall, it’s sturdy, looks good, and is genuinely easy to use day to day. It’s one of those upgrades that seems small but makes your kitchen feel a little more put together.

You will read this book late into the night or savor it for the next Day. :)
Format: Hardcover
What an amazing writer! Such clear and concise unfolding of events entwined with Biblical signs and Prophecy. Incredibly well researched and a joy to read. This book is a joy to read and while I'm trying to savor it, I can tell I will be reading this all night and rereading again. I want to gift this to my sister because I'm so impressed but I also want it in my collection. I will probably buy this book again for this reason. Exceptionally easy to focus and surrender to what God wants to impart in this book. Thank you for your clarity and love with this book.
