Jean Young has been writing songs for children to sing since her own children (featured on the CD jacket!) were young. Her family's backpacking trips to the Adirondacks inspired these twelve new songs, all about the adventures and animals that can be found when you get out into the woods. Amy Conley, who first heard the songs when Jean shared them at a Music Together directors' conference, suggested creating this CD. She contributes her singing and her many instrumental talents, on banjo, guitar, ukulele, dulcimer, and harmonica. Jean, who has a background in Orff Schulwerk, adds her own voice, plus xylophone, glockenspiel, and recorder. Jean and Amy are joined by six members of Jean's children's choir from Community Unitarian Church in White Plains, NY. The choir premiered many of the songs in Sunday services at the church. They were honored to sing 'Cedar Waxwing', accompanied by Pete Seeger on banjo and JIm Scott on guitar, at a benefit concert at CUC this spring. The songs in this collection will appeal to many audiences. Camp directors will happily pass along the safety tips of 'In a Canoe.' Science teachers will love all the animal facts, especially the detailed bird descriptions in 'Great Blue Heron/ Snowy Egret.' Classroom teachers will find 'Something is Hiding' excellent for teaching rhyming words and 'We're Off to Climb a Mountain' a great memory game. Choir directors and music educators will appreciate the introduction to blues harmonica and to part singing: 'See the Otter' is a call and response song; 'Bats' is a 2-part canon; 'Cedar Waxwing' verse and chorus are partner songs; 'A Beaver' layers multiple speech chants and melodic ostinati. Parents trying to lull restless children to sleep will find 'Wilderness Lullaby' very helpful, and kids everywhere will delight in laughing along with 'Loon Serenade' and making a mud bath to battle 'Mosquitoes.' Jean uses picture books and puppets (found in gift shops in upstate NY and VT) when teaching the songs to children. We hope that you will sing, chant, and play along with us... and be inspired. To have your own Adirondack Adventures!

Ivory Modern Essentials Dinnerware Set
These white ceramic dinnerware pieces have a clean, modern, and minimalist design that works well for both everyday meals and casual entertaining. The glossy finish gives them an elegant look, while the neutral white color easily matches different table settings and kitchen styles. The mugs appear sturdy with comfortable handles, and the plates have a simple yet timeless shape that feels versatile for a variety of dishes.
One of the standout features is their practicality. The smooth ceramic surface looks easy to clean, and the stackable plate design helps save storage space. The set also feels durable enough for daily use while still looking refined enough for guests.
Overall, this dinnerware set offers a great balance of style, simplicity, and functionality. It’s an excellent option for anyone looking for affordable, classic tableware that can fit seamlessly into almost any home décor.

Exceptional quality!
I have had these dishes for two years and highly recommend them. For the price, it is unbeatable. These have the benefits of significantly higher priced dishes. They are a solid weight, which is an important factor in preventing them from being too hot to touch after microwaving. When filled with freshly brewed coffee, the mugs can be on the verge of being too hot to touch, but there is no issue if holding from the handles. I have a fireclay sink that could cause issues with weaker dishes. The handles on the coffee mugs have proven durable over time. I have never experienced a crack in the mugs, even where the handles meet the mugs. I have dropped dishes over time. These do not splinter or shatter into tiny pieces like comparably priced dishes. These crack into large pieces. I have endured chips and cracks in a bowl and plate. Neither broke apart further, despite hot or cold temperatures from microwave, dishwasher, or ice cream. I have not experienced any staining over time. The dishes clean very well in the dishwasher. The minimalist style, weight, and functionality of these dishes compare to sets that cost significantly more money at luxury brand stores.

Good design and size.
I was surprised at the quality. of this dish set. The cups were well balanced and delightful to use. The bowls are of good shape and just the right size for a bowl of cereal or soup.

Minimalist, imperfect but certainly reasonably good for the price
This is a set of 16 pieces, all of which are usable and practically sized, including the coffee/tea/beverage cups. While this is absolutely not high quality it is more than expected for $30 or so. The dishes are on the heavier side, not very lightweight brittle. I doubt they are break resistant. While they appear bone white, which they are, I'm not sure they are pure white (almost.) Some dishes will feature some small imperfections, like a small dot here and there, nothing too terrible. Stacking them is where you'll notice that the large plates are absolutely not perfect and you'll see that the ends are not perfect by rotating the plates and you'll notice areas they go slightly up and down. Again, nothing really noticeable or terrible unless you stack them.
If you've got a dorm room, don't care too much about having anything more than a minimalist set of reasonable quality dishes that you won't get embarrassed about for serving casual meals, this makes for a decent set. Hopefully they are safe (supposedly Amazon says they are) and they are made in China.
If you're wondering about branding, on the bottom of each item there is a conspicuous amazon basics logo.

Great starter set
They are very nice. Great starter set. They don’t feel cheap. The only issue I have is that the bowls are small. That is only picture I took.
