Winsor & Newton use a modified linseed oil and safflower oil in the production of Artisan paints, resulting in no solvents being needed and the paint can be cleaned up with water. These water mixable oils are easy to work with. The consistency is thick,  and the light fastness, opacity and transparency, drying time and depth of colour are all comparable to conventional oil colours.
