AmericaÕs Alligator Family: The David Crystal Story blends together snapshots of a family man and the clothing empire he founded, mixed with extended family chronicles, and highlights of company operations over seven decades. David Crystal Inc. and itsÕ associated companies and labels was a major 20th century clothing manufacturer famously distributing IZOD Lacoste alligator apparel that defined the American polo-wearing era. This book is a tale of resilience and tenacity demonstrated by David, his descendants, and relatives; many of whom experienced success in apparel or other industries including academia, finance, real estate, and insurance.

This extensively researched family genealogy celebrates a Jewish American success story that originated in the east European shtetl of Jedwabne, Poland, which was formerly part of the Russian Empire when David and his siblings emigrated. Family lore suggests that DavidÕs father Izrael Fajba Krysztal operated a successful business that might have paved a smoother entry into America for his eleven identified children; Bernard, Moses, Samuel, Sutcha Seligson, Mary, Leah Goldberg, Abraham J., Isaac, Fannie Graef, David, and Meyer.

Family, friends, company employees, genealogists, Seventh Avenue fashion historians, Quaker Ridge golf enthusiasts, and more will enjoy this read.

Some prayers in this book could make some people uncomfortable
Format: Paperback
Some prayers in this book could make some people uncomfortable like those that mention "healing from this spirit of death" when the person might not be feeling like they're dying. e.g., the prayer for healing of basal cell carcinoma. For those who may not be aware, the vast majority of basal cell carcinomas (basal cell skin cancer) does not lead to death. According to the Cleveland Clinic, "The prognosis for people diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma (BCC) is excellent. BCC will rarely spread to other areas of your body and cause harm." However, they also point out that "If you don’t receive treatment for basal cell carcinoma, the skin cancer can slowly grow in size and invade deeper tissues like muscle and bone and cartilage." So although a BCC shouldn't be ignored, I think that praying for healing "from this spirit of death" may scare some people.

A Must Have for Prayer Warriors
Format: Paperback
It's rare that I purchase a book for my own reading pleasure. Time to Defeat the Devil was a purchase I couldn't wait to make, and as usual, Chuck Pierce didn't disappoint. This book includes personal insights, strategies, and an explanation of the current culture and what is on the way as far as prophetic visions, words, and proclamations. Often a lot of books of this nature repeat themselves, but this was full of new to me content that I'm already applying to my prayer life. Although it might be for an advanced intercessor, the reading was practical and easy to read. I appreciate that he always includes his own experiences and day to day observations to enhance the point. I'm thrilled that for the very few purchases I make, I chose Time to Defeat the Devil.
