En 1952, Peter Hvidt diseñó su primera casa familiar. El lugar elegido estaba situado en Klampenborg, un pequeño suburbio al norte de Copenhague que estaba ganando popularidad entre los arquitectos más influyentes de Dinamarca, como Arne Jacobsen, Flemming Lassen y Kay Fisker.

La casa tenía muebles meticulosamente elaborados, todos diseñados por los propios Hvidt y Mølgaard. 

Guild es la adaptación contemporánea de la estantería situada en el dormitorio principal de la casa del arquitecto.

La forma orgánica de esta estantería, que reflejaba sutilmente las curvas del jardín familiar, se inspiró en la obra presentada por Hvidt & Mølgaard en la Exposición del Gremio de Ebanistas de Copenhague de 1951.
