To distract himself from more urgent work, Max Rieger (member of Die Nerven and producer of, amongst others, Drangsal, Ilgen-Nur, and Jungstötter) approached Demonji using the moniker Obstler (fruit schnapps). Black metal interests him, but he does not know the genre very well. When the drummer of the group Juli, Marcel Römer, played six minutes of black metal drums for him, within three days Rieger quickly added guitar and vocals and then put Demonji in his drawer for two years. Meanwhile, Rieger is already working on a second Obstler album.
