Miguel Merino is a family owned winery placed in Briones (Rioja Alta). The annual production is just over 30,000 bottles, which are shipped to more 30 countries. The property, of some three thousand meters, includes a house of stone, built in 1818, where the family home and the offices are; the aging room, with capacity for 350 barrels and some 90,000 bottles; the new vinification and bottling rooms; and an experimental vineyard of 1,020 square meters. The target of the company is to produce the best quality possible and to maintain the volume.

Since the beginning of Miguel Merino's exporting career he had long dreamt of having his own small "bodega", where he could make a few bottles of wine of the best quality possible. Briones, in the heart of the Rioja Alta, gathered all the conditions he was looking for: old steep vineyards of Tempranillo grapes, chalky soil and a climate showing a marked Atlantic influence. Declared a town of historic and artistic merit, Briones is where he decided to site his bodega.

Twenty years ago, he restored an old 19th Century house on the outskirts of the town. On the adjoining land he built facilities for vinification, barrel and bottle aging and planted a small experimental vineyard.

Now, as one of the smallest and youngest wineries in Spain —his first vintage was 1994— his wines are among the most prestigious in the country, and we he is exporting them to over 30 markets. This encourages him to grow, not in quantity, but to constantly improve his style; how to get the best from each grape and each barrel. To continue to enjoy wine-making.

Origin: Briones, La Rioja Alta, D.O.C. Rioja.
Grape: Tempranillo 100%

Nice upgrade 51mm for me
Color: Silver
This is my second 51mm machine. I never used the included handle or basket… I kept my existing HUGH IMS precision basket and bottomless portafilter. The temp and preinfusion are set and not adjustable but fine (reduced variables). I defeated the shut off by volume by setting higher than needed (wish that was easier to turn off). I like to manually shut off when I hit 30g on my scale. The machine will drip since there is not solenoid valve so I just pull the scale from the try when mouse tail breaks and drip starts. The steam wand and hot water dispenser is a massive upgrade (from Capresso EC50) and the real reason for my upgrade. I would have paid $50-100 more for the improvements listed… but I guess most people would not so this is about the best option for me with 51mm (keeping all the 51mm three lug portafilter stuff I own). 5 stars = for me and the price

Reliably makes a good cup of coffee!
Color: Rose Golden, Color: Rose Golden
This espresso machine is great. I wanted something simple and reliable and that’s exactly what it is. In fact, the espresso comes out with a nice creamy coffee froth on top and the flavor is excellent. I don’t normally write reviews, but I think this one is worth it and I want them to stay in business because I’ll probably be sending some of these out as gifts come next Christmas.

Authentic
Color: Black, Color: Black
This machine is amazing. We just returned from Italy and this is as close to a cafe as you can get. It leaves a dense foam on top from the high pressure water system making truly authentic. It is easy to use and clean!! I loved the size too as it fits perfectly on our shelf. Highly recommend if you want an italian cafe to enjoy!
