Margaret Bourke-White, fresh from her role as staff photographer for Fortune, became the first female photojournalist for LIFE in 1936, and her iconic images graced its covers and helped solidify the magazine as a preeminent visual periodical.
When Caldwell and Bourke-White married in 1939, they were both celebrities, popular and provocative in equal measures because of their leftist politics and their questioning of American cultural norms. They collaborated on the photodocumentary books You Have Seen Their Faces (1937), North of the Danube (1939), and Say, Is This the U.S.A. (1941). In the summer of 1941, the couple entered Russia on assignment and were there when the Germans invaded on June 22. As a result, Caldwell and Bourke-White were the first Americans to report on the Russian war front by broadcast radio and continued to transmit almost daily newspaper articles about the Russian reaction to the war. Their international celebrity and their clout within the Soviet literary establishment provided them remarkable access to people and places during their five-month stay. Their final collaboration, Russia at War (1942), is a culmination of their work during that time. Perfect for travel... very comfortable!
These things are amazing! I bought these a couple weeks before a trip to Italy and had planned on doing a lot of walking in them. I only got to wear them a couple times before we went on our trip, but no blisters, even during LOTS of walking in them on the trip! They wore in super quickly while still keeping their durability. My feet stay dry even in lots of rain. The photos show the wear on them after a few months, including a couple weeks of travel, and weeks of wear around town.
My only complaint is that there is a tiny something (a little knot of thread with glue? not sure...) that is at the top of the opening of the boot, and it rubs the back of my ankle and makes a sore. That isn't enough to make me not wear them though. There's a photo that shows this. As you can see it's super tiny, and probably not even a flaw, it just hits my ankle *just* right so that it rubs.

These shoes were perfect! Cute design
Spent more than I typically would on shoes to get a quality pair for a trip. Needed a dependable shoe that would be waterproof for hiking and exploring the often wet climate and terrain. These shoes were perfect! Cute design. Very comfortable. Fit as expected. Kept my feet warm and dry. Good for hiking as well as walking the streets of the little towns we explored. I'm glad I invested in these boots!

Chic Comfort
I really enjoy these boots. Excellent for wet muddy city streets! The slip on version are a bit narrow when it comes to putting them on. I wear a size 8 and ordered 8.5 for extra room , but they were too long. I think if you have wide feet these may not be too comfortable. Overall a good leather shoe. No water sipped through while wearing.

Need breaking in, but awesome quality
I was a little worried when I first got these- my feet are a little wider than normal, but not wide enough to need wide width. They were quite snug the first few times I wore them, but after some breaking in they fit PERFECT. I did have to go up a half size from my normal 7 to a 7.5, but these boots are fantastic and I can tell I have them for a long time!

Get these! You won't regret it!
These are my go-to winter shoes! They are waterproof- I love them bc they don't look like your typical "rainboots"! Stylish- I get compliments everytime I wear them! Comfortable- first time I wore them they were tight through the middle of my foot, but after two wears I had them nice and broke in, now my most comfortable shoes!
