Incremental Grace: Memoir of A Pivotal Contributor to the Development of Relations between the United States and China follows Yao Xu’s childhood, education, employment with the provincial government in China, work experience in the United States, and peace-making efforts throughout the years. He was ushered into the arena of U.S. politics on the recommendation of late Senator Bob Dole in 1997. He had played unique and productive advisory roles for former President Bill Clinton, former President George W. Bush, and former President Joe Biden on a number of the U.S. foreign policies including: suggesting to President Clinton to advance his visit to China in 1998; facilitating the resumption of normal dialogue between the U.S. and Chinese government in the aftermath of NATO accidental bombing of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade in 1999; suggesting to President Bush to visit China in 2002 on the thirtieth anniversary of President Nixon’s first visit to China in 1972; proposing to President Biden to resume the bilateral cooperation between the U.S. and China on fight against illicit fentanyl and its precursor chemicals, and facilitating the agreement reached between President Biden and President Xi of China at the summit held in California in the middle of November of 2023. As a result of the summit, tens of thousands of American lives have been saved.

Yao Xu’s extensive work experience in both China and the U.S. as well as his interactions with high-ranking officials and top leadership have helped him look at issues from different perspectives and yield positive results. He hopes that readers from all over the world can broaden their visions about China. 

Xu’s interest in technology and global affairs has allowed him to put forward some ideas to reform the United Nations and develop a service platform to serve international students for those who are working on the relevant subjects. 

In his personal life, Xu is an avid swimmer and enjoys reading and global affairs. He lives in the United States with his family. Xu is also a Trump Advisory Board member hand-picked by President Trump himself to advise him.
