Taking inspiration from bedtime tales he invented for his young daughter many years ago, Andy Rodgers here presents stories of preposterously-named Prilliam Whistleconc and his old friend Colonel Sir Olbrathune Plattery and the situations that arose from their joint misunderstandings of reality.

"Prilliam set off a little more slowly than his usual brisk pace, in the knowledge that his friend would be a bit slower. Even so, it was still a bit brisk for the former Colonel, and Olbrathune soon said so. They hadn't really gone very far at all, when he asked, 'this is a brisk pace, Whistleconc, isn't it?' 'Not quite so brisk as usual, Plattery' explained Prilliam. 'I'm walking a bit more slowly this morning. I walk quite a bit faster when I'm on my own.' 'I'm glad I don't walk with you when you're on your own, then, Whistleconc,' said the former Colonel, 'because I'd not be able to keep up'. 'You'd better not be with me when I'm on my own, then,' agreed Prilliam."

Published here for the first time, Andy Rodgers passes on his tales to his grandson's generation and beyond, with charmingly nostalgic illustrations by his wife, Ally Rodgers.
