This is the third and final volume containing NC State Archive Records pertaining to Land Confiscation. Land Confiscation Act was initially developed to provoke men who could not decide to fight for Independence versus remaining loyal to the King. The threat was Ð you could have your property (and personal possessions) confiscated and sold. This Act ultimately will be invoked and land was confiscated across the state. These records are the accounts preserved and filed in the State Treasurer and ComptrollerÕs office. This volume documents those records for the following Counties Ð Dobbs, Duplin, Edgecombe, Halifax, Hertford, Hyde, Lenoir, Lincoln, Martin, Mecklenburg, Moore, Nash, New Hanover, Northampton, Pasquotank, Putt, Richmond, Rowan, Sampson, Surry, and Tyrell. This volume also contains the folder with unknown county or other misc. info. Note: The quantity of records by county varies a lot Ð however, what was preserved is contained here.
