Outfoxing all other military and political personnel in the territory of Baja California Norte, Colonel Esteban Cant , on becoming governor, astutely played the leaders of the Mexican Revolution one against another. A compelling figure in the Mexican Revolution, he maintained his independence from Mexico City until he was forced from office in August 1920. While Cant was appointed governor by Venustiano Carranza, Pancho Villa, and Eulalio Gutierrez of the Convention Government, he followed their orders only when it suited him and published the laws of the government in Mexico City to give the appearance that he was loyal to the central power when in fact he was not. He was more concerned with neighboring Sonora and supported every anti-central government movement in that state to secure his own independence.

When he gained power, Cant faced an indescribable morass of crime and immorality in Tijuana and Mexicali: white slavery and prostitution; opium dens; cocaine, morphine, and heroin dealers; and gambling halls, saloons, and dives of all descriptions. Governor Cant either licensed many of these or became connected to them in some other way, personally profiting from such activities but also employing much of this revenue to create the territory's first reliable infrastructure. This engaging account reveals the complexity of the Mexican Revolution, with a cast of characters that includes officers and officials of the Porfirian regime, revolutionaries and counterrevolutionaries, US investors, crackpots, German spies, Japanese schemers, Chinese workers, and purveyors of every sort of vice.

We really like these!!
Color: Bright White Accent Light
Easy install. Seem to be made well. They work well lighting our path. It's nice you can use your foot to push the stake in, but be careful, somehow a piece broke off of the end when we did. It's okay, we still were able to make it work, just something to be aware of. It'd be better if they made that part from metal. Otherwise they seem sturdy and were hoping they last well. Solar is a fabulous thing. Lights up our nights!!

Disappointing
Color: Bright White Accent Light
Terrible. I bought a lot of these, thinking they would be better quality, since they cost more than most of the other solar lights on Amazon. But they rarely all work -even in summer after some of the sunniest days. (Yes they are “on”). My husband bought some really cheap plastic ones, made by another brand, which average out about 2 dollars a piece and those actually work great.

Bought 4 - burned out in 6 wks
I paid full price and purchased four of these; within six weeks one was inoperable and won't turn on at all. Dead. One other is barely hanging on and two are still doing okay. Given the price, I'd expect far more.

Can’t recommend with 2/6 failing in 2
Purchased 6 lights, two failed within 8 weeks photo shows dead la get on left vs functional one on right. Sadly, I have received no response or support from the company. Who knows how long the other 4 lights will last.
