Venture into fascinating connection between Niles, Illinois and circus history with more than 200 vintage photographs and anecdotes from the locals who experienced it.

In April 1884, Ben Wallace, the owner of the local livery, opened the season of his new circus in Peru and billed it as Wallace and Company's Great World's Menagerie and International Circus. It was an instant success and soon grew to be one of the largest and most renowned circuses in American history.

Over the next 50 years, many circuses found a home in Peru. Under the direction of the American Circus Corporation, an industry was created in Peru that employed as many as 4,500 people. Circuses like the Hagenbeck-Wallace, John Robinson, and Sells-Floto/Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show departed Peru by rail each spring, along with some of the best acts from around the world, including Terrell "the Lion King" Jacobs; the world's favorite clown, Emmett Kelly; and animal trainer Clyde Beatty, who played himself in 12 Hollywood movies. In 1929, Ringling Brothers purchased the American Circus Corporation. As the country sank into the Depression, fewer circuses left Peru each season. In 1941, Ringling Brothers closed its winter quarters in Peru, ending an era.

Miami County historian Kreig A. Adkins has been a filmmaker for more than 20 years. With a passion for historical documentaries, Adkins wrote and directed the film On the Banks of the Wabash: The History of Peru, Indiana. Adkins and his children perform in the Peru Amateur Circus.

Not my cup of tea.
Size: X-Large, Color: Black
The sweater seemed to be well made and fit me well. The color and style were nice and it's a comfortable material, but it's just not my style. The weave is so very open, it feels like I'm wearing an afghan from the back of the sofa. That kind of defeats the purpose of a sweater for me.

Men's relaxed fit cardigan
Size: XX-Large, Color: Dark Blue Stripe Knit, Size: XX-Large, Color: Dark Blue Stripe Knit
This Amazon Essentialsl men's relaxed fit cardigan is a stylish option for men. The cardigan is short sleeved and relaxed in fit. I ordered an XXL for my huband, which is his normal size, and it fits him well and is relaxed through the shoulders and body of the cardigan. The one we chose is blue and white striped with a white border on the sleeves and hem and a white collar. It's 100% cotton and is soft to the touch. It looks really nice on my husband, and he says it feels comfortable to wear. The weight is somewhat heavy, so I think for him, he will mostly wear it when it's a bit cooler. It gets very hot here in summer, but this will be nice when the weather cools off. He often wears short sleeves in colder months, too. This cardigan can be machine washed in cold, but it should be dried flat (the way you generally dry sweaters so they'll keep their shape). It's a very nice looking cardigan, and it looks great on my husband. I'm very pleased with the style and the quality.

Unbeatable Price! Great Quality!
Size: Medium, Color: Dark Green Stripe Knit, Size: Medium, Color: Dark Green Stripe Knit
I was very impressed with the softness and quality of this shirt. I am 6'1 and 195 lbs. and the medium shirt was a perfect fit. I will agree that the size is true to fit. The only thing I didn't like was the length. The length is short, so it comes to just to the top of my waist when wearing, however, that is the style of this cardigan. A longer length is my personal preference since I am taller. Also, with this being cotton, I would not recommend putting this garment in the dryer as it will likely shrink. The color (I got green) is just as pictured and the green and navy color mix blend well together. Although knitted, you do not see through the shirt, so an undershirt is not required. The price tag is unbeatable as you will not find a knitted cardigan anywhere else at this low price. Overall, I think it is a great buy, and I would highly recommend it.

Great fit.
Fit Type: Regular Fit, Color: Charcoal Heather/Charcoal Heather, Size: 5X-Large Big
Im 6'4 360lbs. They're not thick but and the neck is a little looser than what im use to. But overall im happy with the quality and the length of the shirt. I got a big belly and the shirt doesn't expose any of my belly and not too long where. It looks like a tall tee. Definitely will grab these again.
