The Kiloview U40 Mounting Kit (manufacturer part number KA-U1 or KVW-KA-U1) is a lightweight, low-profile mechanical rigging accessory designed specifically for the Kiloview U40 4K NDI encoder.

It allows operators to securely attach the round, puck-style U40 converter directly onto standard camera hot shoes, cold shoes, production cages, or desktop multi-cam setups.

Core Engineering and Physical Features

  • Precision Engineering: The bracket is custom-tailored to wrap securely around the exact physical footprint of the U40 encoder, ensuring maximum structural stability without blocking the device's ventilation ports or peripheral cabling layout.

  • Standard Cold Shoe Compatibility: Features a standard metal cold shoe foot base that locks into any common DSLR, mirrorless, or broadcast cinema camera shoe extension.

  • Optimized Tally Visibility: The mechanical geometry is designed to lift and position the encoder so that its oversized, integrated 360-degree Tally light ring is perfectly visible to both the on-camera talent (host) and the camera operator (photographer) from multiple angles.

  • Toolless Field Assembly: It comes packaged with specialized, high-grip thumbscrews and matching hot-shoe hardware, allowing production crews to mount, adjust, or completely strip down the converter from the camera rig in seconds without needing a screwdriver toolbox.

💡 Operational Rigging Tips for the U40 Kit

The Cable Strain Relief Imperative: Because the U40 encoder handles high-bandwidth 4K60 HDMI signals alongside Power over Ethernet (PoE) network connections, its attached cables can become thick and heavy. Since the KA-U1 mounting kit itself weighs a mere 26 grams, any violent tug or continuous downward strain on the Ethernet line can place stress on the camera's hot shoe shoe terminal. Always loop and anchor your incoming network and HDMI cords tightly to your camera cage or tripod head using a cable clamp or simple hook-and-loop wrap. This transfers the mechanical weight off the U40 mount and protects the camera's hot shoe from snapping under pressure during sudden panning maneuvers.

Deep dive into Linux Kernel Architecture
Format: Paperback
Have you been wanting to figure out the innards of the Linux kernel without getting overwhelmed or have been working without enough context to actually understanding it, here is a fantastic book. If you are fascinated with operating systems and new to it, if you have wondered what terms like system calls, timers, threads mean and how they are developed? This book is for you. Major subsystems and features of the Linux kernel like System calls, Memory Management, Loadable Kernel Module framework, Kernel config, Virtual Address Space, Page Cache and Kernel build(for x86 and ARM) are detailed very well in the book. The delivery through both practical and theoretical focus, can meet the expectations of both professional and academic needs. When used along with Linux kernel documentation, this book is bound to provide a deeper, well structured understanding of Linux kernel architecture. Yet to complete reading the entire book and I'm sure that it will keep me interested.

Bad book
Format: Paperback
A book that says comprehensive guide to Linux kernel should include more information about linux kernel internals with proper examples and explanation how kernel actually work and not just very high level overview of the modules building process. Don't waste your time and money. Linux device drivers book is much much better books than this one and provide way more details than this one.

Lots of good info, easy to read
Format: Paperback
Okay, I do need to disclose that I was one of the technical reviewers for this book, and that I'm also a fellow Packt Publishing author. Reviewing the book was a fun project, which I really enjoyed. There's a lot of good information here, and lots of hands-on projects for both x86_64 and Raspberry Pi. The author writes in a clear, concise, and conversational style that makes the material really easy to digest. If you have a good foundation of C programming knowledge and want to get into Linux kernel programming, you'll definitely want to check this book out.

A good book but...(update, formatting fixed)
Format: Kindle
A good book but the code in the Kindle edition is very badly formatted. The downloaded source code seems correct. Update formatting issue seems to have been fixed.
